3tc turbo will idle but wont rev (video included)

Ive been having trouble getting my 3tc top run right, it will idle ok but as soon as i rev it it kicks up a stick as seen in the video, the carby is a zenith 175cd with a garret turbo, the block has been bored out to 2ltr and has low comp turbo pistons.

Im not sure if this is a vacuum related problem or spark issue, im going to replace the leads and plugs tomorrow and buy new clamps for the vacuum hose, none on atm but the hoses fit snuggly on the barb fittings.

weird thing is it was revving fine on sunday but had trouble going back down to idle, it would go to low and struggle to get to a steady 850rpm.

ctrain Try fitting your exhaust. even if temporary. Turbos need slight back pressure, otherwise when revved the spool/rotors can overrun and keep forcing air in engine then suddenly there's next to nothing. Which explains high idle then spluttering after closing throttle especially with suck through setup. I and a friend had same problem on his turbo Escort when setting up.

Might be a silly question, but have you gone through the basics? Fuel pressure ok all through the range, Mixtures ok, Plugs/Ignition system def firing? Compression tested? Usually when you run through a series of logical diagnostic tests you'll find the answer pretty quickly...

yeah i done the basics on sunday, checked the plugs, lots of carbon so its running quite rich, put new plugs in and i ran a little better, done a compression test exactly 120psi on all 4 which may seem low but it has been bored out and has low comp pistons, i ran it today and it started up really well compared to all the other times and ran really good, let it warm up and gave it a few revs and acts like a normal engine, i just need to get this throttle cable tp work with my setup and it should be ready to drive and get tuned.
