Are you sure there isn't any massive air pockets? That'll make temp gauges read all sorts of stuff.

    True.

Make sure you do a comp test before pulling it apart again.

Properly bleed the cooling system of all the air. Then if it still does it, go get a Teekay test. If it still does it, go buy another 5ME

its rather puzzling.. the signs are a little mixed..

hopefully matty will reply to this thread and offer his opinions on what he's seen.

Its certainly running like a dog now - so I think the cheaper/easier option would be just to find a wreck with a running 5ME as nathan suggested and plonk it in.

obviously we were doin it the cheapest way possible, hence the liquid steel. But we did use a new head gasket

Nathan i did a TK test and bam blown headgasket, thing is it never overheated once in my car as it was only blown between cylinders.

My guess is that when we cleaned the water ports in the head (so the liquid steel would hopefully stick) it brought the water port just that little bit closer to the combustion chamber, then i think the liquid steel has not held on and come away from the head and causing the leak.

Damo i've had a couple more idea's today after diagnosing a blown head gasket at work today.

    1. we should take out plug number 6 and see if the rad still pumps water out when she is runnin (im pretty sure number 6 is gunna be the culprit)
    2. we should take out plug number 2 as this was the other water jacket we liquid steeled, and try the same thing.

    3. if this is the case i reckon we should run it with no water at all, fuck i mean V dubs dont use water hehe

We should also see water mist comin from the 2 blown cylinders with the plug out aswell.

Still doesnt fix the leak though.............F%CK

Charge the battery playa, we'll do a couple of conclusive tests.

I can get you a cheap 5me with a rod knock, just use the head off that.

Did you put a straight edge over the block before you put the head back on?

yeah it was pretty bloody good though. The head was a touch out between cylinders.

I thinks it obvious what has failed, being the liquid steel.

Damo i think we should go look at another crown instead!!
