    Default 1uz help needed

Well I did a silly thing and thought I would finally tidy up the wiring on my 1uz conversion. It was all looking pretty good until I tried to drive it.

The Idle control valve took a long time to work out that it actually needed to set the engine idle but that is working fine now.

However, I only have first gear in forward motion. On the road it will just stay in first and then if I back off it goes into angel gear and the engine needs to catch back up before it will drive again.

I'm guessing I must have broken a wire or something while fiddling with it.

Also, if I connect TE1 and E1 I get the engine light constantly flashing (no codes) but no O/D light flashing so I can't see if there are any trans codes???????

Any help would be appreciated, or come and buy a cheap Crown wagon with a 1uz in it?

    Cheers,
    Shane.

u should hear them clicking under the car

why did u have to work out idle motor wiring
    what model 1uz is it
and im guessing it was running ok but not now

It was all running great, until I fiddled with it. I decided to tidy up the wiring for looks. Re-soldered a few joints that were not so good and re-taped the loom. Just that kind of stuff. It wouldn't idle when I first put it all back together but that has now come good and it is idling the same as it was before I started.

I drove it again today. If I hold it in first it accelerates and engine brakes as you would expect. In 2 or D when I lift my foot drops back to idle and coasts. It's like its expecting 2nd to take over but it doesn't.

I'm liking your idea about checking the solenoids. I can't get back to it until Thursday now though.

It is the UZS131 Crown engine/trans and the stock ecu/ect set up.

If all else fails I was wondering how different the Soarer or Celsior computers would be if I got a complete loom and ecu. The engine sensors should be the same, I just don't know if the auto sensors are compatable.

Y r u so quickly wanting to goto another ecu
I recon u haven't even got it running before
Anyway if it has been running what did u do regarding the speed sensors
Uzs131 need mods done to the speed sensors as u can't run the sensors direct to ecu
As the signals from the gbox are not correct for the ecu
U need to wire change speed sensors or rn speedo converter boxes

The car has been running and on the road for about 4 years now and was a daily driver for about 2 years. Got my 4by now so the Crown sits in the garage and I fiddle with it and break things. Cream MS83 wagon. Speed sensors are a piece of piss. 4 pulses per revolution of the tail shaft for SP2 and 4 pulses per revolution of the speedo cable to SP1. Straight into the ECT. They only need to be a reed type switch activated with a magnet.

I'm only thinking different ecu as the Crown ones are hard to find and will only get harder. If I can fix a broken wire I'll be doing that first.

U must have disturbed a speedo signal to ecu
    That's y it won't goto second
Get one of the speedo sensor wires at ecu and join it to an injector pulse wire
    Then road test it.
Tis will prove if its speed signal

Yeah it has been super reliable up to this point and I really don't want to have to change the engine management.

I had a bit of time today to look again. Speed sensors seem to be working ok. Solenoids are clicking and when I tested resistance they come up good. Drove it up the road and still only first gear.

I finally remembered that E1 - Tt are the terminals to short to get codes from the ECT. O/D light flashes steady so no codes stored at the moment.

I started going through the terminals to the ECT today going off KDogs old diagrams. What I found is that I have 12v ignition power to the reverse terminal instead of only when the selector is in reverse. So the ECT must be thinking it is in reverse all the time???? I haven't had time to work out why this is happening yet. So there must be an ignition wire shorting across or an issue with the selector switch on the box.

Could that be causing my problems???

    Cheers,
    Shane.

Pull that wire out of the plug (tape it up), and go for a drive.

seems like u crossed over the reverse red/black wire with the ign feed to inhibitor and speed sensor which is red/blue
so if u used proper 1uz wiring for speed sensors they would not work until u are in reverse

I have just read a couple of posts from a Lexus forum. It seems the LS400 (similar electrics to the UZS131) has an issue where the reverse lights stay on and the reverse indicator in the dash will illuminate in any gear and the result is that the car wont change out of first gear.

I just went back and checked the wiring again and it doesn't matter where the gear selector is reverse is the only wire (Red/Black) at the plug with power. L,2,N&P are dead.

Maybe I need another neutral safety switch??
