    unplug the inhibitor switch and take for a drive
    also check which wire has power on the inhibitor when ign is on and unplugged
    should be red/blue trace wire

    Well, I'm officially a dickhead now. Part of my rewire involved reconnecting the reverse lamps because I didn't like the plug were it was so I removed the plug and soldered the wires and taped them into the loom.

    Guess what I did. I had two wires, red/white feed to reverse lamps and yellow which is an ignition power feed. I connected the yellow wire to the red/black feed wire from the inhibitor switch. So the ECT thought it was in reverse all the time. I cut that wire and now it all works perfectly. Now I can solder the right wire up and re-tape the loom.
