    See if you can get hold of a early JZ series starter they are much powerful. I swapped mine to a JZ series one. Just the STA signal connector is different easy fix tho.

    I pulled my starter apart today, they contacts in the solinoid that passes the current to the motor are very badly worn and I would say this is probably the problem why mine wont start, it would be worth you pulling the cover off the end of yours and inspect it, its only 3 bolts

    If you search on google for "mk3 starter relay mod" you'll see a bunch of guides that should be helpful with this problem.
