so i have the head off my 22re corona to fix blow head gasket, and while its apart im thinking of having a go at giving it a bit of a port and polish, nothing to fancy just remove castings, match the manifolds and thats about it really, anyone got any tips for a virgin haha i have been reading plenty of articles and watching a few videos.
another question i have is the exhaust ports, they are like a pear shape. and my extractors are a circle, would it be worth filling the "small end' of the pear and just making it nice and round to match the exhaust, will it even be worth the time and money? hear is a pic to help
also while im at it would it be worth going to a aftermarket computer? only other mods are extractors and full 2.5 system and one of these cams http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TOYOTA-20...d7e77cb&_uhb=1 and valve springs to match. or will i be able to play with the air flow meter enough?
thanks for any and all advice and opinions
Photos of just the dirty exhaust port isn't going to help us help you....
Also... for a "virgin" it is tough to do it right, and quickly.... so your current engine isn't down for long....
Get it cleaned, and disassembled.... take photos of the bowl and seat areas, also take photos of the ports themselves... I recommend LED flashlights for lighting ports.
