or just buy these??..... sliding is overrated.. it's marginally easier to setup on the dyno.. but at all other times, solid is better(imho) (edit:, they are 3S ones http://page8.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/h36127310 )

do you know which way is which? the cams are set standard on the center pin, if you move the cam gear clock wise (looking FROM the front of the car), will that advance or retard it?Originally Posted by Lambolica

just had a thought.... what if you were to get a set of aftermarket 3S gears then change them so the center is infront of the outside rim. this would change the offset, by how much would depend on the brand, but may eleminate the need for such a large spacer, if a spacer at all... only concern would be that the center would have the threaded section of hole, so you'd need to fasten them from the reverse side of the gear.

just doing a bit of thread necromania here i know, but i picked up my 7M last night, and i noticed the cam gears on that looked remarkably similar to the 1G ones, i did a quick count and from memory i got 47 teeth, the 1G and 3S had 46, so perhaps i can't count, but maybe the 7M gears are the same... though from memory the 1G has the deep side of the dish forward, the 7M had the shallow side... can anyone confirm?

Just seen this thread... just to confirm if you guys didn;t work it out yetthe 1G adn 3S cam pulleys are exactly the same, -they have the same toyoata part number, as someone correctly identified, they fit on one engine one way, and on another engine the other way...
I'd love vernier pulleys on my 1G![]()
