Just so you know, corona diffs are just as weak as TA22 T series diffs. I have no doubts that you will be requiring a replacement before long, and being a borg warner diff, they are more difficult to change centres in (lashing is the biggest PITA).

I strongly suggest you look for a better diff. Shortened F series or RN2x G series

    Cheers, Owen

EDIT: just noticed it was locked too... the axles are not strong enough to take a locked diff, and it wont pass a roadworthy or engineering report with a locked centre. An LSD will fix this.

Bet you were wishing they were 3SGTEs and 3TGTEs

Mind you, they probably wouldnt be hiding under a workbench...

Not taking the Diff, just the engine... Am looking at finding myself a Hilux diff, possibly LSD...

Have a good search in the tech section for putting Supra LSD centres into Hilux diffs. There is a lot of info on it, and it isnt as straight forward as you may think. Still quite doable though. Also, the MA70 rear disks go on without huge amounts of dramas. Again, theres a few tricks to it, so its well worth looking at the current discussions.

just in regards to the gearbox tunnel, i have a sr20 in my ke30 and there was no modding of the tunnel required to make the gearbox fit besides getting a gb xmember made up so i'm not sure if it will fit in a celica but if it can fit in my ke30 which i wouldn't think is much bigger then a celica, i'd say there wouldn't be much work to make it fit in a celica

The celica T50 was an arseload bigger than the K40/K50 of the KE30 rolla. The tunnel is much bigger in the TA22.

To save me hoisting the engine, 'placing' it, then measuring the gaps for engine mounts and waiting God knows how long for them to be fabricated, does anyone know the dimensions / have a template for the TA22/CA18DET conversion?

dude, best off to measure this yourself incase there is something different when u do the gig.
u'd hate to be all ready to go only to find that the mounts didn't fit!

Yes the shifter sits back more but usually you can take the gear stick out and rotate it so it angles towards the dash. Other wise modify the original handbrake to work on a slight angle.
My old ra23 didn't have an issue with fittin the s13 box. It was factory auto if that makes a different. The only thing was we needed to drop the sub-frame 100mm when changing the clutch.
I don't think my mate's ke35 had any issues either.
