    Default Statically timing a 2t (ta22)

So I got a bit ahead of myself with adjusting my timing and now the car won't even idle.
How do I statically time it so I can time it properly this time

If you can get the engine running - even with idle set very high - you should be able to get the timing set to something close just by feel - ie, twist the dizzy a few degrees either way until you get the engine running reasonably smooth. Then use your timing light to get the timing set just right (10 degrees BTDC at around 800 RPM with vacuum advance disconnected). If you really want to try static timing - which is pretty fiddly - try this http://www.custompistols.com/cars/ar...ion_timing.htm

Cheers ta22fan, it ended up being a disconnected sensor (the one on the side of the Carb. What does it do?). After that was reconnected she idled perfectly and timing her was a breeze.

Will need a pic of the sensor to know what it is. At a guess i would say it was the idle fuel cut solenoid that was disconnected.

As Dazza has said it sounds like the anti dieseling fuel solonoid, its designed to cut the fuel supply to the idle circuit when you turn the car off so you dont get any run on / pre ignition, its there for emmision puropses ..

( Iinitially reading this thread i thought there has to be something else than just the timing which it turns out there was )

sorry about the late reply. You guys were spot on, it was the anti dieseling solenoid. As soon as I reconnected that it worked like a charm!
