Yes but I'm looking for the pro's and con's of both Adjustable single vac and Non-adjustable dual vac. Surely someone would know.

Neather have pro's when compared to electronic fuel injection computer with spark control. A dizzys advantage is it works its cheap and simple reliable, dual vac is mostly for emissions control. A single vac line setup will be just fine, advantage is ITS SIMPLE. If you want to run a dual vac setup by all means stuff about with it but I doubt you will find it any better in any way than a single system without a shitload of work and a dyno.

If your running boosted motor you could use the dual setup to run boost retard (assuming the dual setup is able to handle boost)

Okay got the conversion done today, She starts and idles good. But! She backfires and drives like crap?? I timed it to 12* BTDC. It's all wired up the same as I did before but I imagine if I stuffed up it wouldn't be starting let alone driving... Could it be because of the adjustable single vac? Do I need different spark plugs?? Someone help please! O___o

By the way heres some pictures.

    16R dizzy

Had to modify the single vac by cutting it a bit.

    All together.

The 4K converted dizzy I took out is wierd... I'll take pictures and put them up before I pull it apart so people can see.

Anyways, I do need some assistance with this, I've set the timing but she just doesn't run right...

Prob getting to much advance ,, Take the vac advance hose off , put your timing light on and see how much the weights are advancing the timing first. Get that sorted then worry about the vac advance (its more important for fuel economy) sort the mechanical advance first. (just plug the vac line on the carb)

You may have to limit the mechanical advance a little more, or fit heaver springs to reduce the ramp rate.

Well I messed with it a bit today, I reset the timing and I adjusted the octane selector roughly to the same spot as the none adjustable dizzy had and it goes great now =P Sorry, I worried for nothing...

I took some pictures of the 18R modified with 4K dizzy internals.

Great for never having to deal with points again but I couldn't get it to run with a coil and igniter?? Weird.

Just a guess , but i'd bet that modded unit has the ignitor built in. Smaller half of plastic shrouded internals is the pickup , larger section would be the ignitor one wire would go to coil other to 12v ignition (from distant memory).

It was wired up like a regular points dizzy though, Both going to the coil and the coil also had an external resistor.

Yep both to coil one is 12 volts the other is the earth to fire the coil, resistor is just dependant on the type of coil you use. Ie standard coil needs resistor or it will burn out over time, "solid coil" ala coil pack type etc is usually resistorless.

True but if I had known the other one was already an internal igniter type I wouldn't have bothered doing it to this car, I'd have done it to the other one O___o

I'm probably going to swap it back and buy a modern coil, Make things nice a neat =)
