From the SDMA newsletter today:

"Good news! The club’s application to the ACT Government for a $150,000 grant to help with the resealing of the track has been successful. The Minister for Sport and Recreation, Andrew Barr, wrote earlier this month giving the details of the funding.
This is a very significant achievement and special thanks go to Anthony Hyde and everyone who helped Anthony prepare the grant application.
The club now has to invoice the government, which will transfer the grant amount, plus GST provision, to us. We then have until 31 July 2014 to complete the resealing work and until 31 October 2014 to acquit the grant. The cost of the resealing is likely to be more than $150,000 but the club is in a strong financial position and has been putting aside money for many years specifically for this purpose."


SHIT YEAH!

A bit less goat track, a bit more racetrack. I like the sound of that! Here's hoping it can happen before the end of 2013 perhaps, though i'm guessing a few working bees will be in order.

Are there hill climb events in November? They seem to have a wonderful ability to land the same weekend as uni assignments haha

I'll need to make use of all the new bushes etc at some point this yeah haha

I've heard that a turbo can make your car feel like its on dirt, even when on tarmac. You should give it a try. Hahahaha

Haha. That's the real reason that group B rally cars were canned in the 1980's. They heard Bob was looking for a drive, and the FIA said ffffaaaaarkk no! The world was not ready for Bob in a crazy turbo car

I can tell you now that BOB was't ready for a Group B rally car in the 1980's !!!!!!!!!!! But as has been seen in the past I will have a go at almost anything . ( hint ?
) But I am tempered by an old Rally adage of mine , YOU SHOW ME A REALLY GOOD CAR , & I'll Show you a really big accident !!!!!!!!! . This applies to dirt rallies only of coarse , where I tended to get a bit exuberant at times , this of course would not happen on a sealed surface , where I am known for my calm and measured approach to driving.
On the subject of ( driving anything ) , my red beast is having sabbatical and if the liquid nails drys in time I will drive something with the grip at the front only ( apparently ??? ) Amazing what you can buy for $350 these days.
