    Default 1JZ drive belt chirp

    G'day all,

This problem is driving me insane!!

My drive belt chirps and i've tried the following:
    - New belt
    - New tensioner bearing
    - Different tensioner (used off another motor)
    - New AC pulley bearing

History is that I replaced the motor and have bolted on all accessories on to this one and haven't gotten it to run quietly since. Now i'm pretty sure the problem is pulley alignment. I have used a straight edge and found the powersteering and A.C. pulley are slightly off. The only thing is that no matter what I try I can't get them to line up properly. The A.C compressor allows a bit of adjustment but the powersteering always seems a tiny bit off. Any tips to adjust this properly??

Here's a video I took just after adjusting it a bit and putting on the belt. It's quite hard to hear but it gets louder after a bit of a drive then quietens down sometimes after a long run. It might be my imagination but you can also see the belt moving around a tiny bit on the power steering pulley. With the belt off none of the pulleys move.

Any help would be MUCH appreciated.

was the chirp noise in the video?
As they say in the book, assembly is the reverse of dismantling, but slower cos you forgot where all the bits are

How are the groves on your pulleys? Possible one is fucked?

Use a piece of hose to determine where the chirp comes from exactly.

The only reason for a pulley to be off the line is physical damage, in this case you would probably need shimming/welding/cutting etc. But it's more likely that one bearing is a bit fkd up as said above.

As is said above... if memory serves correct a chirping serpentine belt can be caused by the tensioner spring becoming weak or even "the beginning of the end" of the harmonic balancer so I would look there
