3sgte Missing, high idle

hey guys today chucked boost controller on car, 165 3sgte, just a bleed valve, went for drive, and was boosting and all, and car while in idle is hunting up and down and sittin on sumtimes 1500 1600 1900 sumtimes, thought was leaking hose, went through every single hose we touched, did nothing, sometimes when it idles its fine and will sit at 1000 till itake of again, but most time was hunting up and down and usually finding a high idle. thought might be the intake hose to turbo as its small cracks and chips, its jsut puzzling that it decided to do it today ? took vavle of as well and still did it, anyone have any experience with this ??

have you checked to make sure all four pistons are in the engine??? lol...

pull your controller out and see if the problem remains... think about it : if it was fine then you altered shit, and now its shagged, then you probably have caused the problem. are there any bees in the ecu???

yeh already tried pulling the controller out and putting it bak to normal, didnt make a difference, gonna try reset the ECU today and see if problem remains.

Honestly, I'd be double checking for a vacuum leak. But test for it with the controller disconnected. Make sure everything is where it should, and when you find that it is... Check all hoses post AFM for cracks. The best way to find a vacuum leak like this is to get a can of degreaser/carb cleaner/start you bastard and spray it on the hose. If the revs rise, you've found your leak/cracked hose. Just be careful: Don't get any on your exhaust manifold or turbo, and don't spray it directly into the intake.

yeh ill go over it all again, its just real puzzling that it started yesterday, and i only touched 2 hoses, and did go bak ova it again, might go ova TB rubbers and everything and seals.

check ECU error codes probably your best bet .. other option would be to check the resistance in it and also check the resistance in the wires to and from the ECU.

Of course, if you get error codes off the ECU then that might pinpoint your problem right there.

took car for run this arvo, and runs perfect apart from running rich like usual it was fine nothin wrong... ???/
i dont understand ? the ecu on 3sgte arnt self learning are they or anything ?

also brad, my cars been running rich alot lately ? not just in morn, but when kick it ova after a drive u have to put foot on throttle to get it going ? ive had injectors all cleaned, replaced 02 sensor ? wat else could it be ?

Jorrs, if there's a leak in the turbo elbow pipe, this will make your car hard to start and make it blow black smoke and stutter. for a temperary fix, pull that pipe off and fill the little cracks up with silicon and wrap it in electrical tape or duct tape. wrap it tight and clean all the oil and dirt off it first.

But for the price of replacing that pipe (like wiso said) you could make yourself a 3" straight intake and move your battery above the engine mount. then get a fmic and you'll love it

yeh well fmic is coming and yeh im gonna get another intake for it, yeh it blows black smoke, think its only small leak but ?
also ive had a fair bit oil coming out of rocker into the intake and makin the intake really oily, wat does that usually point to ?
