LMFAO, if 3" tubing is restrictive on an 1.6L NA motor making 90KW, I guess every car in the world should have 10" intake tubing.

TO be fair to knightrous, if the fitting is no smaller than the intake manifold entry, it isn't a restriction (although it can be for other reasons). Also, plastic is a good heat insulator and that length of piping travelling through the engine bay is actually pretty damn short, the difference to the factory length going to the boot would be negligible.

But anyways, maybe this will make you happier

I just ran a pod 50mm above the LHS stub axle, intake temps were fine.

I've never seen any bigger than 3" tube on any turbo car, including 500HP Evo's and STi's. Hell I even vividly remember a 1000HP skyline that only had 3", although it was a twin turbo.

Also not knowing enough on the subject, I thought bigger diameter tube's can also cause air characteristics to negate any effect of vortices or anything beneficial to when for say, you are feeding air into a compressor wheel or through an intake manifold.
I thought the idea is you want to create pressure differentials at strategic points in order to aid vacuum or boost, so no universal length or width of pipe is going to be perfect in all situations.
Pod filters in particular suck air from different angles to assist this, not just because they have a larger surface area.

LMAO he thinks of the diameter of the tube and then doesn't see anything else about it. The tubing he is using is cheap ribbed flex tubing. Now this wouldn't be a issue if it wasn't expanded or bent in any form or fashion. When air hits a object the air flow changes according to the angle of the object and force ( speed ) of the air, Determines the amount of direction change. When air hits these ribs multiple times it can and probably does create a vortex around it self. For even when air comes into contact with it self it still provides a resistance to air flow direction. This is the basis for finding your scoop and cheap tubing more entertaining then effective. But then if you want to start trading insults I can do that with you to jagoff.

And come back to his original argument, does a ribbed tube really matter on a 16v NA 90kW engine?

Constructive criticism is always welcomed, where as insults are not.

Putting thinner oil in would probably see a more noticable power gain then a non ribbed-for-her-pleasure-tube

Ribbed piping or not, it's not a restriction to this motor and it's certainly a much more effective setup then an exposed pod filter in the engine bay or open air ITB's.
