I got mine today and I was surprised at how light it was. I thought the casting looked ok although not "factory" smooth it certainly is night and day compared to dellow "quality".

As long as it lines up and doesnt require lots of grinding I will be happy!

Will the std T50 pivot and clutch fork fit ... or do we need the w5x items? I havent even checked it out yet...

hey guys, i was playing with my w5x-4a housing today (not a niteparts one it came from the usa i think) im using the 230mm gze flywheel. and i was wondering what fork and throwout bearing you guys are using?

the t50 throwout bearing and carrier are no good as they dont fit the w box.
the t50 fork seems to be ok but.

Question Re: 4A to W Series bellhousing

Okay, charger is fucked, new batteries installed...

Every time I post of late, I've got something to whine about. I'm turning into a grumpy old man at last, everything's coming up Milhouse...

Notice the drain holes and clutch pivot come stock on the Malaysian bellhousing

If you want to get pedantic, there's more bolt holes and better casting on the Malaysian bellhousing

Notice the casting differences. Photo doesn't do the Malaysian bellhousing justice, but prettyness is secondary to functionality ...

There's been some discussion of alignment issues with the Malaysian bellhousing, I am yet to test it

The Malaysian bellhousing is slightly shorter from flange to flange ... so at least one of the bellhousings could have spigot bearing issues?

Drain holes on the Malaysian bellhousing only

Apparently the Niteparts bellhousing is ready to go ... except for some drilling...

Question Re: 4A to W Series bellhousing

The Niteparts bellhousing certainly weighed more than the Malaysian version. However my scales are really not up to the task of proving by how much.

    Niteparts $550

Malaysian through Bill cost me at least $150 less than that

Even if alignment issues exist (around the driveline's axis) with the Malaysian bellhousing, it wont cost me $150+ to get it simply lapped straight?

    Thoughts?

    Definetly got some pics in.

What is the drain holes for? Dust(mixing with water to clean out)?

The slave holes not being on the nitespart is a bit annoying but it can be done easily enough.

The price difference is also a issue (to us tightarse modders) but hows availabilty on those Malaysian ones?

Think you might be getting a bit old and grumpy Esteban, lol. I got one of the Niteparts bellhousings with the first group buy that went on and yeah, it's not perfect, but it seems to be pretty damn good for me. The pivot wasn't a problem, because if you've managed to get the clutch fork from a donor W5x (presumably the one you're goin to put in the AE86/something else), then you'd be able to come across the pivot pretty easy. Also, I'm a complete nub when it comes to fabrication work, but even I managed to drill and tap some holes for the clutch slave competently. I think the reason they did this is so you can use any type of slave you want, not specifically a T-18 one? Usually if you've actually got a 4A worthy of needing the epic W5x conversion, you're pretty handy with that kind of stuff anyway...

*shrugs* Nothing personal, but my experience with the Niteparts bellhousing was pretty positive overall considering the amount of crap products and people I've come across doing my ADM AE86 to Drift-spec 4AGTE conversion. It bolted up very easy and although I haven't started the car yet (coming soon!), it appears to clear everything fine where it needs to clear, and contact everything fine that it needs to contact. I can see where you're coming from though, but yeah, just wasn't a problem for me and I don't think it would be for the majority of people who need this product.

I don't think it needs to be said, but either bellhousing seems to be quite a good buy in comparison to a Dellows, just one may need a bit more work than the other, heh.

i've just rigged up the "billhousing" to my 4A
whilst the bell might be shorter, i can't see any issues with the spigot bush, the w5x seemed to go into the 6001 spigot aok.
my bell was re-drilled as apparently the alignment was slightly off ; i guess i'll figure this out when i get to do the first drives...

question ; what slave cylinder are folks using? my standard slave won't work with the billhousing....

and re: (lack of) the drains in the niteparts ; angle grinder FTW

I'll endeavor to put mine together next weekend ... need a new spigot bearing first... anyone know the part number off the top of their head? I really should bring the EPC to work ...

The reason they were relatively cheap was that I'd pick them up when I was working in KL, then bring them back by hand in the plane into Sydney, then post them from there.
Since I don't got to KL anymore, I can't bring them back.
