    Default 4AG-Idle Problem with ITBS

    Car: AE86 with 16v 4AG Built Motor.
    Running Adaptronic with s/t ITBs

    This is my new problem ; every time temp drops below 60c with head lights on car stalls ( only when it's idling when driving it's fine) , i also install Idle control valve from AE92 but nothing has change. normally it idles at 1200-1000 after warm up . nothing wrong in wiring. Alternator is good with load;

    my tuner recon i have to install fully Idle control motor like this

    Any Ideas?

    1. Once the engine has warmed up, it should not drop to 60 deg. The thermostat will hold the temp steady at around 72 deg. If your temp drops to 60 deg, the chances are your thermostat is not working.

    2. As far I know, the AE92 had the standard 16V thermostatic idle-up valve under the throttle body. Since you couldn't use this with ITB's, you must have installed the small electrical on/off idle-up valve that compensates for extra electrical load. I don't quite know how you would control this with the Adaptronic ?

    3. I have installed the standard AE101 three wire idle-up valve on my engine, and the Adaptronic controls is fine.

    4. I would guess at the moment you are setting your idle speed by cracking the throttles open ? If so, it will idle low when cold, and faster when warmed up. If the temp drops to 60 deg there is no reason why it should cut out, unless you have some strange settings in the ECU ?? Do you have a laptop set up with WARI to look at the programming of the Adaptronic ??

    Cheers... jondee86

    1). i guess that too; cause it was fine until last week. i got mechanical temp gauge when it's cold even after fully warm up when driving it shows 50c; i know gauge is right when we check with wari temp is pretty much identical and thermo fan comes up at right temp.o

    2). yeah I'm using electrical on/off idle-up valve connect one end to vacuum block , (my tuner install this one)

    3). map is fine tps bit off ( 3%)

    thnx lot for the tips.

    you can also help the idle by setting a target idle speed in the adaptronic which the adaptronic will try to meet by adjusting the timing. helps a lot if you have no ISCV
