Question Whats an h-trim compressor wheel?

How does a ct26 for a 7mgte with a t04 h-trim compressor wheel compare to the stock ct26? What are the size differences in the compressor wheel vs stock? Will boost come on earlier but have less top end spool or later but more top end grunt?

    H (or sometimes called H3) trim is a T04B wheel with a 70mm inducer, and 58.4mm exducer.
This site has the compressor map:
    http://www.rbracing-rsr.com/turbosupermaps.html#t4
Good enough for around 450 to 500ish HP.

Google search: Garrett + H + trim = lots of results

Is this something recommended to you by a turbo builder, or something cheap you've found?

errr...dont you mean 58.4mm INducer and 70mm EXducer?
Also if its a Toyota style wheel it will be 5+5 blade (rarer than snow in FNQLD!) if its a Garrett 60-1 compressor wheel it will have 7+7 blades (I have a Garrett one machined to fit CT26 here in my hand, and a real Toyota one in my hi flowed Turbo A CT26 outside )

    from a turbo guru :

At it's best efficiency, 74%, boost levels are within the 1.40 to 2.10 pressure ratios - between 6psi and 17psi. So, this turbo was designed for lower boost pressures, as it's best efficiency is centered around 10psi. this H-trim makes about 300 to 350 hp to the wheels with very good boost response. If you're going to keep boost levels relatively low around 15psi, this is a very good turbo up to about 350hp at the wheels. This compressor wheel is one step down from the 60-1.

Yes Daddio, you're correct. Been doing a lot of work with turbine numbers lately, so I had them arse about.
The H trim is a 6 blade comp wheel.

    Aloshan:
Yes, with the H trim you should get 350whp - I get that with the smaller V trim wheel. (same 70mm ex, smaller ind). At this stage though you're starting to find the limitations of the stock turbine wheel beign able to flow much more. Also, don't read too much into American dyno numbers - a lot of the time they 'correct' the figures for engine HP, which is how they can get such high 'wheel HP'numbers for their highflows.
Also, looking at the second photo, it looks a bit like the turbine housing is starting to crack from the wastegate port (about 5 O'clock). Hard to say, it could just be shadow or dirt, but that is the common spot for them to crack.

yes the Americans love to exaggerate their hp number. You may be right , however I assumed it would be much easier to just remove the clamp and use my old exhaust housing(as i find the most time consuming part to be removal from the turbo elbow and manifold and then putting them back on. Because of this I have asked him to remove the exhaust housing before he sends it to me....also that exhaust housing seems to have seen better days so i prefer mine anyway.

Just be wary, if it isn't packed well, the turbine wheel has no protection (with out the hsg) from shipping monkies with butter fingers...

this is EXACTLY what I told the seller. the fact that the exhaust housing isnt protecting it leaks it open to sydney customs who LOVES throwing shit around. I told him to make sure to pack to as tight as tight can be

so then keep the housing on there and remove it urself when it gets here.

it will be fucked by the time you get it, no if's or butts.

thought of this as well , housing looks absolutely fucked though , i was lucky to get my old one of previously with heat + chisel and hammer, this one doesnt seem to be in as a good condition , add to the fact that its just been sitting for 5 years = bitch of a job to remove.

Assumed that the chance of me damaging it trying to remove an exhaust housing that's stuck on is greater then it being damaged by customs if its packed properly.

just trying remove as many variables from the equation as possible , don't want to damage the turbo removing the exhaust housing (same reason just didnt purchase a CHRA again , didnt want to damage it putting it INTO the compressor housing..like before)

Trying to make it as easy as possible , the guy assured me he packed it as tight as he could as well as he could , lets just hope thats enough.....

Had the same issue when I needed to rotate a housing on my gt28rs, soak it in diesel, put it in a vice and then get the right tools for the job to loosen it.
