(assuming a composite gasket)
surely compressing it, and spraying it with hylomar (which should have been done) there will be bits and pieces of gasket and hylomar all over both surfaces. i dont mean machine them again, but scrape all the shit off, prepsol it and make it all 100% assembly clean again.
recently i tested my new head on the existing engine then pulled it off less than a month later, i still had to spend an hour prepping the head again before it went on the new short block.
working clean and general surface prep is the #1 thing when putting this stuff together (hence always having the air going)..... i spend more time cleaning than on tools when i build an engine, bhg job etc.
