Here is some food for thought i built my own W5" short throw shifter 16mm lift.It was my limit due to rearward type housing
I have found that Toyota l/cruiser troop carriers 79 series manual and such have a gear stick with a similar dia ball piviot to that of my W58 box, the ball is mounted on a spline.
So the 16mm desired stick extension was acheived by banging shifter ball back up stick on spline to add 16mm and tack weld.
I had to remove Huuuge G/stick and transfer all top hold down bracket spring and half ball thingy
Next bit cut out 16mm spacer out of a oil resistant plastic cut off from local plastics shop and by placing housing on plastic, trace drill out holes macine(jigsaw) out middle and your two thirds there.
This is the tough bit for the rear shifter not so for the center because the selector rod has to swing L/R and fouls rear part of housing due to 16mm lift.
i had to cut and lower the rear part of the housing down lower to about level with shifter housing mounting face(need ally weld skills or mate or shop) so selector can swing L/R due to 16mm lift and presto 3 hours and schmicko short throw shift.
I was into wrecking troopies and other 4wds and just happened to notice that one, they all seem to have it but may have been an abhoration in parts over that model i found 3 like it
The shift even bent to the right which was perfect.
For center shift would be even easier no Mod on shifter housing.
I know you will all want photos i will post them eventualy.
Chase these shifters and check em out.
mine works a treat
Cheers Guy
