it's to suit a remote shifter linkage found typically in the JZA80. Infact i'm sure that shifter there is to suit a mk4 w58.. So if you have a w55/57/58 circa 1992 or earlier, you are out of luck.

That is a JZA80 W58 shifter, JZA80 have a remote shifter... and I suspect you want a short shifter for a non-remote R154? --> if my assumptions are correct and you don't have a remote shifter R154 then it won't fit!

No worries thx, i read a few people have these on toymods and are happy with it, but i have no shifter at the moment for the gearbox so anything is a bonus.
Do you know if the lenght of the shifter is any shorter, i know the throw is, either way doesnt matter as i can shorten it and rethread it but just curious....

I just fitted one up to replace the stock GA70 one.

It's reduced the throw heaps, but not the lenght. It's also just a tad straighter, so the knob is a bit closer to the dash... given the same length and forward position, it's VERY close to the steering wheel.

I thought I'd like it shorter, but it's fine.

It make hitting gears a bit tougher... you've really gotta muscle it. But if that's what you want, it's a good thing

Thanks for the Input....yeah i will cut it down as i want is lot shorter and then put my own tread on it to make it unversial....Hopefully making a shorter won't make it even more harder to get into gears but i c, unless someone has done it??

I'd say it will make it a little tougher. Why do you want it shorter? Just for the sporty look?

I'm looking around for a nice understated gearknob now... and i've been warned to stay clear of those "universal" ones that fasten with a grub screw. I can't talk from experience, but I'm going to see if I can get one that actually has a toyota thread on it.

You can ring my brother Matthew ( toymods member) he has a jza70 r154 short shifter from the group mod done a year or two ago, never used, only trial fitted.
0422 315107 it was going to go into his gz20.
