The suggested wiring diagram based on the pressure switch is good, but the klakka type low pressure fuel pumps used for the carby systems have low current draw (as opposed to EFI anyway). Therefore two relays might be overkill for the pump

Firstly I would want to make sure the coil has a relay before I would be concerned about having an extra relay for the fuel pump so that you will get a stronger spark. If the coil has a relay then using the original power for the coil (now used to activate the coils relay) should be sufficient for the fuel pump relay associated with the oil pressure switch.

You will need to fit a second oil pressure switch which forms a closed circuit when the pressure comes up so a T-peice will be required as well. The oil pressure switch is your best option as it will outlast the LPG safety switch many times over.

Hi Brian, i'm not sure exactly what you mean. What are the "cabs" you speak of? and when u say coils, are you talking about the ignition or relay coils?

The main problem i see with the system we have been speaking about is the oil sender. I'm not sure how many have the output of 12 volts on (engine running) and 0 volts off (engine stopped).

oil sender catalogue should have those details timbo. And brian, I think i have an idea what your talking about, though your english needs to extend beyond the 3rd grade. Please ensure your spelling is correct (are you talking about Carbs??) and your sentences are structured logically.

Klakka pumps generally draw a few amps, which is still reasonably significant on a 10A relay. The relay coils generally draw a couple of hundred milliamps. Running a relay for your coil's power is always a good idea, but your confusing the wiring terribly, and it starts getting messy if you dont do it this way from scratch. I would say only wire in what you need to run the things you are adding. Dont forget to upgrade your alternator, as the combination of thermos, halogen headlights, electric pump, amp etc etc will all start to overload your alternator's massive 35A output and cause it to go the way of the dodo.

I don't really see how letting the pump run for 2 seconds when you turn on the key is really such a serious issue though.

might actually be a good thing if its a carby motor, letting the fuel get to the motor before you try and crank it....

I run mine off its own relay straight off the battery triggered by ignition...dangerous i know if i crash...however your regulator and return line negate any excess fuel flow...so i am failing to see a reason for putting this poor girl through so much heartache to set up a simple fuel pump....I can lend a hand setting it up if you want...is rather easy. You'll need to PM me though.

Was about to cut wire on back of fuse panel to tap in fuel pump then thought hey, what are these two things poking out with plastic over them? Turns out they were male connection tap out point thingeys, so didnt need to cut anything, just plug a wire on

And I had a look at the fuse panels at supercheap, none of them have a joint connection down one side or an easy way of putting power all down one side without connecting each fuse individually to power. Where can I get one of these fuse panels that I can easily run power down one side with one wire??

The thing is up and running anyway, just have 3 fuses going to the battery terminal, its getting rediculous and I just wanna tidy it all up!!

WES Components have this, part number AFB400:



Accepts 6 fuses, connected together on one side, with a 30A cable and large ring terminal. Should be what you're looking for but I'm not sure how you would get it in Qld.

The cable that connects to it is rated at 30A, hence the 30A rating. There is no reason you couldn't add another 30A cable to one of the blank crimp connections and join the two at the battery terminal - the busbar should have no problems with that.

Nah, i just can't explain myself very well.

You can simply use a standard 5 pin relay, probably not expensive at all from super steep auto.....................

one quick question,
with the relay thats on the fuel pump (bottom one) whats 87a going to? (it's going to X ?)
