Default Help Needed RN85 Belt Issue

    Hi guys,

Hoping for some advice on how to fix an issue I found on my RN85 Hilux. Went for a drive this morning and my idle was insanely high, and also the battery and brake lights were staying on in the cluster. After about 10 minutes of driving I noticed the temp gauge rising and rising and when I got home looked in the engine bay and found that the lower belt had come out and was pretty wrecked as per the photo below.

What is the name of that belt I need to replace, and what is the process of replacing it?

I've also found this wire broken off in the engine bay too just under the oil filter

What is this one called? I'm assuming it's got something to do with the oil? I'm no good with auto electric stuff so that will no doubt have to go to a auto electrician but I should be fine doing the other stuff once I know where to start.

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

The belt is called your alternator belt and you need to remove the other two belts in front of it then put on the new alternator belt by loosening the adjuster bolt, lock bolt and pivot bolt till you can get the new belt on then tighten them back up and repeat the process for the other two belts.

Where the wire is broken off in the second picture it is your oil pressure switch wire. It controls the warning light for your oil pressure, just reconnect it and it should be fine.

Thanks for that, will head to Repco in the morning and grab the belt. Would it be worth replacing the other two belts at the same time?

It wouldnt hurt to do it and if your belt has come off and taken a chunk out of one of the others it would be a good idea.
For the price of the belts it would be worth the piece of mind.

Hi guys, I've taken the fan belt off by loosening the adjustor bolt and idler pulley but can't work out how to get the alternator and air con belts off. Do I have to loosen the pulley bolts on those two or is there another way? If there is a diagram of how to do it that would be great too.
