GX81 - JZX81 LSD info needed!

I am in need of buying a new lsd for my cresta, the only problem is im away from my car for a little while so i cant see what size diff is on it stock. the diff im looking at is an 8 inch that apparently fits supra and mx83?. its a 6 bolt 8 inch.

Anyone know if this will fit?

What engine did your car come fitted with originally, because lesser models have F series diffs or there are some with solid axle rear ends. Though there are some G series diffs that are not interchangeable, namely to do with the side input shafts and halfshafts, though this mainly applies to the JZX81 turbo models compared to most others.

it is the cresta GT twin turbo, came with a 1g gte, but i have recently ended up putting the 1jzgte in it

Yeah, that car should have the same diff as an MX83.

The other thing you can do is check on www.toyodiy.com and put in your specs to find out what you have and use the part search feature to see what is compatible.

The owner of that ebay store is very knowledgeable about MX83s so will be able to tell if it will fit. The biggest concern will be checking to see if the stock side shafts will suit or if you will need to source another set. I do know that a JZA70 Supra torsen plus side shafts is interchangable and can be had complete for much less, as the one on eBay is pretty expensive for what is only a used centre. You could nearly get a new 2 way for that sort of money.

if that will fit up to a gx81 cresta then sure haha

i have no idea but since someone else mentioned puttting the gears into your center i thought i'd mention it. it is a g-series which is 8 inch and has 6 bolt half shafts.

^ Yep, you will need to swap centres and side shafts since the housings arent a direct swap. Though it can be made to fit complete but Im not sure whats involded so do some searching as a few people have done it with pics.
