On my p00 motor, my ecu sensed a 300rpm fluctuation in engine revs whilst actually holding a constant throttle position, when the reading is taken off the CPS.

Dedicated crank trigger and its now spot on.

    Only changed one thing.

Ever thought the Autronic was just homo at reading the crank signal? The Toyota ECU didn't have a problem with fluctuations...you only changed one thing

10 bucks says shoddy installation resulting in interference.

No way would the stock setup fluctuate that much.

the trigger is always the sensor with the most teeth and the sync is the single tooth reset marker or equivelant

don't tune it without some decent timing advance the exhaust manifold will glow red very quickly and probably set something on fire

This is the current igntion map, which i'm yet to make any changes to. It doesn't retard very much at 50kpa So i might drop that a little further.

Removed all factory wiring that was there at the start, ran autronic wiring all the way to the sensor.

There was no dodgyness as even Dave from SAS went over it and wasnt able to get it to work after re-running the autronic wiring loom.

So the problem lies with the Autronic itself. Simple.

Anyway guys, i tried kicking it over tonight and gee what a suprise, it didn't work lol. The starter just span the engine and nothing else,

When turned onto AM2 the fuel pump runs for 4 seconds to prime the lines. I can hear a faint whiring in the back and a quite audible noise at the rail during this time, should i be able to?

Besides that i think isolating the other problems is going to be a propper "see you next tuesday".. I just dunno where to start. I thought the wiring was good, but it may not be. (this will be my first port of call) The engine setup in the software looks ok, but i'm really not sure about it at all... And then it could be something to do with the standard wiring, though i thought being a standalone the engine would likely run regaurdless of everything else.

Will tackle it tomorrow anyhow as I'm buggered from work.

yes the whirring and the noise in the rail is normal.

Can't help you with starting it though. Sorry

Is there a way of testing the injectors and the coils to see if they are actually firing when the starter kicks over? If they are i can presume it's a problem with the timing or firing order

You can just put a pipe on the injector and listen to it.

Microleb's have a test mode which sends a dummy input trigger signal to test if the coils and injectors have power. I don't know if the EMS does that?

neh i doubt it would unfortunatly...

I have a spare CPS sitting around, would manually turning the drive gear trigger the injectors/coils. Or would it need to be spinning at a typical operating speed to work?

Sparks is surprising easy to test.. take a coil pack out or a lead off and put a spark plug in it, sit it on the engine, wind over watch for spark.

Injector pulse, put preferably a LED test light across the wires running to an injector and watch for short flashing while cranking.

If the ecu doesn't register RPM when cranking then there will be no spark or injector pulse you then have a problem with the CAS wiring or ecu config

cheers mate, my only other concern is the actual wiring of the injectors and coils, the EMS came with an already made loom for a 7m so i presume it's all ok, but because the 7mgte uses wasted spark ignition and 3 outputs to control the 6 injectors It makes things a little confusing to follow.

So with the sparkplug out of the engine and still plugged into the coil, with the thread resting on a grounding metal i should be able to see it spark on turn over? I gave that a whirl and there didn't appear to be any spark
