actually after seein this explaination of it yes grind it down and keep everything the same and it will work as toyota intended...
spacing it will have bad effects on your clutch throw
Ive purchased a recast bellhousing that was designed for 1jz to r154. I am fitting my 2jz with it but have hit a snag. The point where the fork support fits in the bellhousing isnt completely flat. So im after advice on either grinding down this section. or just using longer bolts with washers to space it out. But this will affect where the fork pivots.
My 7m one
The 1jz Recast.
I was contemplating either grinding down this section. or just usuing longer bolts with washers to space it out. But this will affect where the fork pivots.
From what ive measured, from the back face (where slave goes in) to the point where the fork support sits, the hump should be ground down to make them the same.

Why do you think a company would have made this cast with that hump? I have seen a few places selling with this same setup.

Yeah. ive sent a message to a supplier with the same bellhousing to ask them.
I have noticed the length of the bellhousings is also different. This might attribute to this.
Is there anyway to test if a clutch system is working with the gearbox and engineing attached but out of the car without the hydraulic slave?

does the bellhousing have inspection openings?
could bolt it all up and then take a look however you wont really be able to simulate the movement... but i believe it only needs to move about 10mm to get full engagement...
its times like these a long piece of flexible hose with 10mm pipe fittings at each end would be handy lol

Yeah its got inspection openeing. ill grind it down like you said.
worse case scenario is i have to spare it out with a flat piece of steel. If i didnt have that hump the fork support would sit the same distance from the point the slave bolts up on my 7m bell. so the throw would be the same.

About 2 seconds after grinding it down i got an email via my phone from a seller of this bellhousing........
The hump is used for converting to push style clutch, if not needed grind it down. YAY!!!!!!

not really sure that it would easily help convert it to a push style but yeah ok...
either way grinder ftw

Yeah its there for extra "meat" to drill and tap for a conventional style threaded clutch fork pivot.
Original Dellshit instructions would have said to grind it down for OEM pivot use, along with telling you that they take no liability for anything, including whether the bellhousing even remotely resembles what its supposed to be for............ Dellow are the pits!
Glad to see you got it sorted anyhow
Cheers
