    Default Wheel Fitment On TA22

Hey guys! I'm looking at some wheels for my TA22 and I've got a choice of 15x9 0 offset or 15x8 0 offset. I'm pretty sure the 8's would fit without much hassle but how would I go fitting the 9's? Anyone here have similar wheels..? Would I get away with rolling the guards and some stretch..?

    Cheers!

15x8 goes easily with 0 offset with 205 50 tires... maybe need to adjust a little more /Caster in Front to get wheel turn, and at rear adjustable panhard, sometimes axle is far away at middle of the car.

15x9 et 0 at rear... im not sure... maybe wheel arch need to roll, also depends a lot at tires and adjustable Panhard is must... also at new or old style wheel arches... how low you want... it is just just and just maybe... BUT 9" rim will fit a little bigger ET, im sure about that, but maybe not with 0 offset...

at Front they will may hit to the Strut bar. mine 15x8 et 7 got ~2-3mm clearance. so maybe couple mm spacer is needed, depends also at rim edge shape.. . Caster needed to adjust more to get wheel turn without hitting to the floor, also MAYBE needed to cut a a little piece of the fender. at down corner front of the wheel... Adjustable pillow balls is must, a little more Camber is needed to get wheel under wheel arch, maybe a small cut to wheel arch is needed or small rolling..

have seen that some struts got small tolerances with wheel bearings how out that wheel hub come... i change bearings to another aftermarket and got hub 2 mm outer and clearance without spacer. also chassis got tolerances at witdht.. i just try to found my measurement at couple Celica chassis but didint found them... width ~+-5mm rear and front.. with same type chassis..

i see that 15x9 ET 0 is possible.. but you had to do some modifications with them... so buy and pray. Maybe buy rims and then do some tricks and pul one tire to wheel, maybe used one and test with it. then you may see what size of the tires are good for you... maybe small German looker is needed

205/15/50 15x8 ET +7 is near at front strut Spring "plate" or how its called.. i dont know the name in English... but Wheel outer diameter cannot be much bigger at front than that wheel size got.. playing like 7" front rim and low 195 tires it is possible i think maybe small negative ET or like that to get clearance to front springs... i think it is possible.. not sure.. only just think it is possible..

Spring Perch is what is called.

The problem with most of the 17" wheels these days is they have positive offset (ET), so the inside of the rim/tyre will hit the strut if you don't run spacers (which are illegal). Personally I think Celicas should stay with 14/15" wheels only

i have 15x8 +20 offset all round with 225's on the rear and 205's on the front this is the maximum combo with that offset. I scrub the driver side rear whenever i go over dips due to the panhard rod pushing the diff, so if you dont want any scrub at all i'd go
    215's on the rear

What struts accept 15*8 et+20 ? I know ae86 struts got different angle and they accept rim to go more in.

To my TA22 (many of struts tested) like +10 start to hit to a strut.. Rim Edge i mean.

Youre correct, bigger than 16" wheels look like Moose got eye glasses.. To big to my taste.

Spacers illegal overhere also, Legal if rim manufacturer recommend them with some
Docs and the modell in centering.

Most common way is use brake disc over the hub, i going to have custom aluminiun brake disc hub what are basicly a spacer.

mine are the stock struts, theres plenty of rim clearance (about half an inch) tyres were the problem, 225s defenitly dont fit (hit the struts) and 205's hit the guards.

But how it is possible that et20 15*8 rim will fit without hit to a strut, have you spacer or brakedisc over the wheel hub.

I can confirm that 15x8 other wheels i got, hit also. Now in front et+7 and only wheel without strut and clearance between strut is like ~2-3mm

Youre is 70-75 celica? Not with long nose

Half inch clearance sounds like ET+20 and maybe about 7 inch rim, rim edges can be different width, but not that much.

Its wierd.... Got 2 cars and bought need spacer with 15*8 ET+15 rims. And they hit to strut in my carina and celica. 15*7 trackday wheel with approx same et will fit easily.

Is there stamped text 15*8 et 20 ? Not just measure them ? 7" rim total width is ~8"

    I ran 15x7 +8 a long time ago

    sat nicely

that was with a 205/50 tyre

You could put fats on it with a roll

I did test fit some 8 inch wide about a 0 offset one day down at the local rim shop. (they cleared the strut but about 10mm)

They fitted well, but wasnt the look I was going for
New to the forum and not the greatest at the internet but its a top forum for info, if only I had found it earlier some of my cars my have not turned into unfinished, unwanted projects/piles.
