    Default Tremec TR-6060 / GM T-56 transmission in a JZA80?

Has anyone put a Tremec TR-6060 / GM T-56 transmission in a JZA80 supra yet? Finding it hard to get measurements of the box so I can figure out if it will fit in the trans tunnel and what mods I'll need to make to the shifter location. They're a lot cheaper than a Getrag V160 and apparently a fair bit stronger than an R154, plus it would make an interesting project.

ive worked on a sc400 1uz with a t56 in it so it must fit
i had to sort out the speedo and the errors in the dash
if u want measurements goto holden wreckers or ls1 forums
and also worked on a jza80 with ls2 motor and t56 box
so motor and box does fit

FYI, the T56 "seems" to be stronger than the TR6060. if driven sedately / not tracked, either should be fine.
but ive found the synchros on the TR6060 to be a tad weak.
but the TR6060 is a smoother box, with nicer throws into the gate.

i'd suggest getting a Ford T56, cheaper than TR6060, and they also come with an AP Racing twin plate clutch from factory. which is rated to about 500kw... not bad

Only BA-BF F6 Typhoon boxes will have the AP racing twin plate which will be quite rare. Anything from an XR6 Turbo, GT, XR8 Etc will only be a single plate. The FG went to the TR6060 which IMO is a much better box to use, stock the shift was as good if not better then the T56 I had with a Mal Wood short shifter fitted. Similarly the TR6060 will generally be back by a big single plate clutch unless from one of the new Supercharged GTs which have a twin plate (Not AP Racing as far as I know).
    If in doubt power out

^ oh ok. my bad .. didnt actually realise that (had a BF F6 with T56, and bought a T56 for project car that came with twin plate ... so just assumed it was across the board, when in fact i got lucky it seems hahaha).

yes, the FG's have excellent shifts, feels like a short shifter ... *depending on power levels etc, the Malwood Opt3+ is an excellent clutch for the TR6060... i got 60,000+ KM's out of mine with regular motorsport events when the stock clutch lasted 11,000 KM doing the same haha.

good box - only issue IMO is the 6060 is the synchros i found. but that's through a lot of hard work, not daily driving

one thing to look out for is some of these boxes have no speedo sensors on them,
bf fords im sure run thru abs and same with 06 to 08 ve commodores,
anyway just another thing to look at as its a pain in the butt if u have to fit
a sensor on the tailshaft or similar

Cheers for that! will keep an eye out for that pitfall! from what I could gather from that thread above^ with a custom mount the box fits nicely into the tunnel although its a bit tight. Does anyone know how it sits in regards to shifter position?

I'm guessing if it's out it can be rectified by a longer input shaft and thicker adapter plate to the JZ bellhousing?
