    Default 2jz auto into 1jz

hi guys, I was wondering if someone could help me out, I have a gz20 soare with a 1jz and auto from a jzz30 soarer, and I am trying to swap the auto with a aristo 2jz auto, I switched over the valve bodies and put the cable in for the line pressure and the wiring loom, just stuck with the rear housing now, the jzz30 is a slip yoke and the 2jz is the 3 bolt flange type. which tail shaft do I need? and can i use the 1jz flex plate? i did some research the other nite about the conversion but today searching google cant seem to find the pages...

    cheers

Whay are you doing this? 1JZ auto's are as cheap as chips and seem to blow up a lot less from what I've seen. BY the time you've chopped and changed everything you could have bought another 1JZ auto?

cos i got it off a mate for cheap and the 2jz box has more clutch packs so can handle more power, i think i can swap over the rear but i have to pull the whole thing apart, i found a site where guy swapped 7m auto rear onto the 2jz auto, think i need the 2jz flex plate tho because the torque converter looks slightly different...

and it hasnt cost me anything to change it because i have just used the line pressure cable and the valve body frome the 1jz and put it into the 2jz one.

Fair enough, but if you can pick up a 1jz auto that bolts straight in for $150 or less then I would be very surprised. Have a look at Sleepercorty's thread if you want to know how much power a 1jz auto will take with minimal mods.

1jz auto is tuff the 2j just has few extra clutch packs so can just handle slightly more hp. i got the 2j box for $200 so if i can just use what i have to make a hybrid box then should be sweet.

You will need the 2jz flex plate as the holes are slightly different.
The only thing you could do with the rear shaft is to get the tailshaft modified.

thanks for some useful info, can i reuse my bolts for the flex-crank and flex-tc?

i think the v8 soarer uses the same flange so was looking to see if the front tailshaft would work but ive pulled the 1jz box apart and gona swap over the output shafts and rear housing if i can
