    Default A01A/A01B IS200 diff interchangeability

    hi all,

my auto IS200 has an open centre, say i wanted to put an LSD of sorts in there...

    some of my options are

1 - get a manual IS200 diff, but this is an A02B, different ratio..
2 - JZZ30 TT diff, A01B same ratio but LSD..

being 10 years between generations, i just wanted to confirm some measurements with someone who has a JZZ30 diff 'laying' around..

this IS NOT a picture of my particular A01A.. i just googled a quick pic of a similar diff, pretty sure it's a supra TT diff (probly even the same but LSD)

both the tail shaft, and the drive shaft bolts are 4 stud, and i've measured using a tape measure... i figured they will be close enough within mm, or completly different.. i can measure again once it's on the hoist.. i forgot to measure a few things.. the overall length is from pinion flange to rear housing gasket face.

I've been looking into this also, seems if you can get your hands on a JZX100 diff/housing and shafts it all bolts in and is a decent upgrade. Auto JZX100 is 3.9:1 and manual is 3.7:1.

I'm waiting for one of the QLD guys to write their car off and planning to buy the complete rear assembly.

it's a bigger/stronger diff, more like IS300. The housing etc will bolt into the 200's rear subframe.

Getting the complete rear assembly also makes it easier for me to do a rear 2 piston caliper upgrade

i think i know where your going JP, and i definitly will not need that sort of power handling, you might though haha

    back to the original question...

    the JZZ30 A01B

do they use 4 bolt pinion flange, and driveshaft flanges?

alot of diffs i've seen use 3 bolts...

JZZ30/JZA80/JZS147 etc diffs will not fit IS200, they are bigger

they are 3-bolt pinion flange, 6-bolt axles

This is where toyota made it a mess.
An Altezza RS200 / IS200 has an A0** which is similar to an old F series, ie. 7.5" CW
Where as the Gita / IS300 has a B0** which is similar to an old G series, ie. 8" CW and an A0**from say...
    a JZZ30/JZA80/JZS147
    An A0** is a 8" CW
    and a B0** (6spd JZA80 only IIRC) is a 8.5" CW

love the simplicity of this.. unfortunatly though just getting a manual LSD centre is a bit of a difficulty, unlike NZ i have never ever seen an IS200 at the wreckers,

cheers for the info thus far guys...

i really should have just got an IS300 lol...
