Hi mate, wheel offset is important.
225's may fit with ease, or they may rub like a crazy mofo.
Can't really tell you without knowing the rim offset....
hi,
just like the add says what is the largest tyer size that i can place on my newly acquired supra 14" rims that will fit onto my ra29 without rubbing? i plan to upgrade my rims later on, but wanted to have these for the interium. my thoughts were to go with 205/65/14 on the fronts with 225/65/14 on the back, but not certain if i can go bigger or for that whether the sizes above will even fit...id like to go with the largest sizes that i can and would appreciate anyone with experience to help out here
thanks!

I think a 235/50/14 Rear and 205/50/14 Front would size nicely.
If anything touches slightly on bumps either turn up your shocks / fit stiffer shocks or springs / simply guard roll the rears ($50aud per corner) - its worth it.

hey thanks ivandude....that is a size ive never even considered...is there a calculation to figure this stuff out? i plan to run 15s in the very near future and was thinking about lifting the back end by a couple of inches so id like to see what the max size would be then...let me know if there's a site or formula to calculate....THANKS!!
wouldnt a 50 profile be a little small on 14" wheels on an RA29???
I used to run 50 profile on 15" rims.
...... butt scratcher?!
Hey Witzl,
what are your thoughts, I was thinking the same thing original factory tyres on the RA28/29 are 195/60/14, my thoughts were to go with 205/60/14 on front and 225/60/14 rears...I just want to get this car the widest wheels possible...anybody's experience of installing larger 14" wheels on an RA28??
Not exactly be cause it depends on the actual rolling diameter of the wheel+tyre. As you go up in width (225, 235, etc) your profile is a % of that (50% or 60% etc). Causes adifference can result in speedo out or more/less fuel to some people.
60's Profile Compariosns: your speedo will be out quite a bit going to a more common size even, may also use more/less fuel?

50 Series Profiles: Seems a better go as theyre closer on the %'s. Not sure if where you are can get abundance of tyre sizes but there are some 225/235 in 50 series 14" till geting around. Tyrerack is a huge help i think youre in America.

<--- 235/50/14 would be boss on rear and 225 on front! If you can get a 245/50/14 i'd put that, but dunno howscrubbing will go cos that depends o your offset. Fromwhat I seen of MA61 rims on Celica 1st gens, they fit pretty nicely but do leave a bit of gap. I think running it will go very close to either scrubbing or not on the 235/245. It is nothing a guard roll/pull willnot fix and definitely be worth the money spent.

Heres some 245 Rear and 225 Front fitted, looks ok but 50 series profile better!

I think 50 would be to small on 14s
i'm running 225/50/16 rears
thanks guys, I'm thinking something like 225/55/14 on rear and 205/55/14, but am not convinced just yet...Any additional info would really help!
thanks again!
I run a 235/65 and they don't rub
thanks drr999...I'm trying to go as wide as I can...235 is what I was looking at going with after all, so we look like we're on the same page....still going to run 205/65 on front
Heya I've been following your build on DoriKaze. Love your work and plan on copying your Mk3 Supra IRS once you're done. Just putting it out there... I think you may want bigger rims than 14". Once you're running the 1UZ you're going to need bigger brakes and I'm not aware of anything substantial that can fit under 14" rims.
hey Jimmy...yeah this is an old thread...I was interested in the 14" OEM Supra rims when my car was 4x114.3, but now that I have 5x114.3 I plan on running 17" wheels...
Thanks! I hope to have the welding done in two weeks, so hopefully by then other's could follow/duplicate this IRS swap...
And good luck on your build!!
