Language censoring is not enabled on this forum. This is a fairly touchy subject with a lot of the board members and we as a whole don't think it is really required.

When you see words that are ***ed out they are like that because the person posting it has the common decency to not use that language in public.

'swaer' words are just some some people choose to express themselves.

im sure everyone has dropped the c-bomb when that spanner slipped on your car...

if you dont like how someone expresses themselves, then you can choose not to listen or read, but miss out on any ideas or thoughts they might have.

When my son hits Google with a Toyota technical question and a ToyMods forum thread pops up, he thinks, this will answer my question cos Dad is a member, and finds threads with swear words on them....I'm not a prude, but its hard to explain when people older and more mature than him cannot express themselves without spelling out in full, swear words.

    and your son's age is?

considering hes searching toyotas places him in my assumption around 14+??

some people do step outside the square they live in and add *'s and change the wording, but even saying "oh F" still gives everyone the impression he meant oh f**k

Don't take this as a personal attack or anything, but what kind of a kid is asking specific technical related questions about toyotas before they are mature enough to understand when and when not to use swear words.

i wasn't even slightly interested in toyotas untill about a year ago at which point i was close to 17. If a kid is younger than say 13 (when they will start to be really exposed to vulgar language at high school etc...) then i dont know what he's doing on toymods reading the tech forums

Profanity is often used by those who are unable to express themselves with any sort of intellectual rigor.

There is a time and place for most things but in my experience anyone who drops the F-word into every sentence preceeding every word is usually a dopey bugger.

Rona swears a lot, but that is just part of the image he is trying to uphold - they build 'em tough in the ghettos of Campbeltown.

My young bloke will be 10 next month and already talks in TA22's, RA23/28/40's, ST162's, 185's and 205's when we refer to Celica's and we also call engines by their code, so 18R and 18RG, 3SGTE and 1G-GZE will be covered in our conversations. He wants to build a kart with an old lawn mower engine. He is also dead keen to help Dad get his RA23 1GGZE project car finished as it was causing a strain on the relationship with Mum, so he copied me a few times by searching on the net, just like Dad has done for days/weeks/months on end, trying to find the answers to the problems.
