dumbass +1 for the nsw pin's importance but won't agree about late toyotas lacking the ability to display error codes with warning light. In post-1998 vehicles the TE1 pin is called TC. I could even display 2-digit codes on jdm 4gr-fse

btw with some laptops there was an option to downgrade to windows xp. Either downloading system's image from manufacturer's website or tweaking it a bit. Maybe you should ask someone to do that for you. Also some exotic options exist as running 2 systems one of them being some linux build, it will also enable you run older software. Fixing old computer is easier though.

yer i didnt know bout tc pin as i never use it
i always wire it in but never earth it out
my hardbook panasonic toyota laptop has pretty good diagnostics so
i use it for everything with obd2

never got into linux
if i get stuck ill dual boot
winxp and win 7
but i have 2 lappys and a home desktop so normaly get by
plus i have wifes old lappy with old pcmcia card slot to program my tech2 cards depending what
brand of car needs programming so will always make sure the pcmcia lappy never gets thrown
out cause they r hard to find theres days
the painful thinkg is transfering car stuff between all three so depending which i take to work will always have the correct info
