Default how good are these exhaust manifolds ?

    Hey everyone,

noticed these on ebay, they look like copies or close to the HKS style manifolds.
How would they go on an AE92 turbo setup ?? Would these fit if anyone has fitted something similar...

Also anyone seen these in the flesh is the quality any good ?

i would say they would be about as good as any cast turbo manifold..

    great for the amateur/mild/stock setup...

but has nothing on a proper steampipe manifold with a merge collector..

i would however say that it wouldn't crack as easy as the china stainless ones (which can easilly be fixed anyway)

im wondering if its worth shelling out $500 for a custom made steam pipe or going for one of these. Im leaving GZE bottom end stock for now so ill be running about 14psi or so. If i decide down the track to go a better bottom end probably worth grabbing a better manifold too..

Does that sound like a good idea ?

    500 !!! whos doing your manifolds !.
i think for 130$ its pretty good haha. i dont know how well it would fit in a fwd setup, looks like it could. just make sure both flange faces are flat, all should be good.

you could get ya custom manifold now, but you might change the turbo or a few other things, then youd need a new manifold made. if you get this 130$ one, you can set it up and see how you go.

nothing wrong with stock gze bottom ends.

our forum friendly sponsor mr Bazda will do steampipe mani for $550 (sorry rounded down a bit). Dunno how much freight will be though, that could be a killer.

Thats exactly my thoughts fixer, To avoid having to get a scavenge pump id like to mount the turbo as high as possible and this manifold looks like it will hold the turbo up high enough. The price is pretty cheap too

wow 550 is a great price, the dude thats doing mine is charging me $1300, and my last one was around $1000. shipping could be around $100. dont use EZ freight haha
looking at the advert, its from australia and they say its for a 4age corolla, so you would think it would suit ae82/92's.

yeah you would assume so, but when it come to ebay and the internet anything is possible! Its really only a guess but from the size it looks like it should fit

i am wondering if anyone on here has played with one of these before??

hey dude, if you think that down the track you might upgrade the bottom end/ run more boost etc i would just buy the better manifold right now. 550 is awesome for a good mani. should definately flow better and give you a few hp more than the ebay copy.

yeah i know its good advice, its kind of counter productive buying one then just getting another, i think tho im feeling like i want to just get the turbo setup running on the cheap, then if i decide later to toughen up the bottom end then ill lash out and get some better gear. I guess i could always sell the manifold on afterwards, its not like i'm losing that much with the ebay manifold either its already so cheap

might wanna be careful with those manifolds. looks like the usual generic manifolds you see on the net, which are designed for high mount use in a KE70/AE86, not a fwd corolla.

i would get bazda's manifold for that money. they should be very good quality and you know they will fit. my manifold cost 1k but that was a custom design to suit my AW11 turbo configuration (ie; a massive kent of a job), with a proper merge collecter and external gate port.

good manifolds are not cheap. cheap manifolds are not good. cheap manifolds also cost you power, and a couple hundred bucks for an extra 20-30kw is easily true in this instance. not many other ways you can get that kinda power increase for under a grand, so cheaping out on the manifold is a false economy imo.

i think you guys are right the more i think about, its probably more logical to get a decent one...

Judging from the picture it seems like that manifold could work ok, it just has to not be too long from the engine side to where the turbo mounts up else it wont clear the radiator / or require modding.

just worked out the manifold cost from MRP in NZ, including postage from NZ to Perth its $490 for a full custom steampipe. that is crazy cheap!

Those things are junk. It totally killed top end on a ~180hp 4a. With new manifold engine comes onto boost quicker and revs out to limiter happily instead of choking past 6k.

We can prob make you a manifold next year, this year were are fully booked out!

My quoted price before was wrong, they are $650NZD for a full steam tube manifold tig welded and of the highest quality, equal length with proper merge collector.

    Shipping to Aus approx $100NZD.

With the Aussy $ being so strong thats approx $570AUD!!!
