Default ST185 JDM Front brake upgrade

    Hi Guys,

I have read that you can replace the twin pot JDM calipers with by bolting on the ADM single pot calipers and carriers (mounting brackets) for fitting the larger rotors.

I also read that this is possible to use the ST184 fronts for this purpose, but the guy i was going to get them off says his ST184 front rotors are only 255mm and single pot.
    What the???

Can someone help me on this I've read a million threads and its starting to get confusing.

only the series 2 92/93 adm st184 has the larger single piston calipers and rotors, the early 89-91 have small single pot/rotors.

you just need the rotors, pads and calipers. will all bolt to the front cast hub carrier. all the st18x front hub carriers are the same (99%sure)

    Thanks mate,

That explains a lot. The guys ST184 SX I referred to was a 1990. Hence, the 255mm rotors. Cheers.

If you need help identifying them, they've got 57-25 stamped onto the caliper (as opposed to 57-22 stamped onto the earlier model calipers). Unfortunately I found this out the hard way...
The above opinion is just that - my opinion. It is not shared by any business that I am currently or have previously been involved with, nor any of their employee's.

I took the plunge an brought Aus spec (bigger single pot) front calipers from partstrain from the USA, ordered them over Xmas and still received them in 3 weeks, fully reco'd for $265. Brought Aus spec rotors from ebay (performance car parts online) cheers to peter and maria, $240 with pads for slotted. So for $505 I now have Aus spec slotted front brakes and the difference is awesome. Cheers for the help guys. And I hope this helps any of the JDM drivers make the change. Well worth it. Easy to do. Direct bolt on upgrade. Toymods rules.

Exactly the same thing I did for mine.

Check out ds2500 pads from competition friction. Great bite, and mine have lasted several track days.

The ST204 Celica has 278mm rotors, with single piston calipers.
But you can use the twin piston calipers of a ST215 Caldina (which use the same 278mm rotor) to get more bite.
    All bolts on.
