If it's going to be manual, see if Ford still sell the brace for the firewall to help prevent flexing and possible cracking.

I'd post up a pic of my 2j XE but the file uploader doesn't like my pics, i've tried resizing them and it still won't work.

    nice - more pics required....

Next time when you link them from photobucket... If you put your cursor over the photo, the drop down menu will appear - you want to click on the bottom link (img code)- that will copy the code, you come back here and paste that link in... and the pic will appear in the thread like this...

an old pic of my baby - to demonstate photobucket linking only

My thoughts are if you are going to do it a XG is a better base as it has a steering rack not the old sloppy steering box & is EFI already ..

Xg has slightly smaller engine bay, they were designed for a windsor v8. Xe took cleveland. slightly wider bay. I'm only using mine in a straight line lol. Steering box isn't that bad, just replace all the moving parts that flog out and they are tight as.

XG is still recirculating ball, same as XF, just has the ED engine and running gear and slightly different interior/exterior, I own a 94 XR6 XG ute.

XH was the EL/F updated front with rack etc...

Yeah agreed rack isn't necessarily better than box, just less moving parts to wear.

Though I'm sure XD/XE have same width bay, XF and XG are narrower, and fitment of clevo's to the latter is possible, the tricky bit is relocating the heater box they put on the outside of the firewall for XF as they were only ever sixes.

But yeah fuck the 8's.... turbo six all the way baby!
