Nah I know Jake doesn't check exhaust pressures. I'll get some answers to all your questions thanks for the input guys.
My first thought would be that its choked... something isnt flowing enough inlet or exhaust air.
Did the dyno guys check for exhaust pressures?

No they wont
A diesel wont run on straight petrol, older mechanical injection types will run on a decent mix but will be rough as all fuck. Some knob filled our 5L work hilux up with petrol and it came back on a tilt tray and would barely run, it was shaking, idling like shit, missed, revved like shit, blowing smoke. Until we were told it had been filled with vortex (the wrong type of vortex) we were thinking it had skipped a tooth on the timing belt or the pump had had a crisis.
So I've got some answers.
It has a Mech/Electronic fuel pump
The dyno run was carried out with a pod filter just before the MAF sensor
3” exhaust from turbo back, match ported with high flow cat (runs great otherwise)
EGR has been checked, cleaned and operation is fine
The Safari Dtronic chip is not tuneable
The engine is Pre-common rail
No exhaust pressures checked
With the EGT, Boost gauges, controller and dyno run it has cost my mate less than $500, so it’s no big deal. He would like to get to the bottom of this, there must be a way to cheat the system...
Another thing he has heard is that he should disconnect the EGR valve... Thoughts...
He has also been told that the Fuel pump isn't adjustable.

The hilux we had at work had pure 91 octane petrol, it was nearly dry and the guy filled it to the brim and drove it all morning. after flushing the fuel system it was good as new.
however a mates prado threw a rod out the block when it copped unleaded and it has the same motor so who knows haha
