ahhhhhhhhhhhh
I my be wrong but i thik that those extra holes are not for adjusting cam timing. I think they will move the cam way too far!
I could be wrong though as im not heaps familliar with the 2tg
How do I go about adjusting cam timing on my 2tg? There're 4 dowel holes on the cam gear, what should I be looking to do if I'm looking for some extra low end power? I'm on the 222 head.

Those extra holes are for cam timing adjustment.
Personally the only time I have gone playing around looking for a better settings is when it's on a dyno.
Be VERY careful when removing the dowel because if you drop that little sucker you will have to remove the entire timing cover housing off the front of the engine to get it out again.

ok
I thought to myself the only way you could to it is to remove the dowel and be able to put it in a different spot the put the cam gear on to suit.
cos if you were just to change the gear to a differnt hole it would move the cam way too far!
cool cheers for that RINMAX

which should I go with? intake to adv/rtd? exhaust to adv/rtd? I'm looking for some low end power?

the only way to get more low end torque would be either a pair of ajustable cam gears or a pair of new cams.
laterdays
As the cams that i have are quite lumpy they will respond differently, if you must play with these then i would suggest only moving one hole at a time, and just do some trial and error.
With my hybrid I did some experimenting with some different length trumpets on my Dellorto carbs. In the end I have settled with the longest ones i had availlable as they took a bit of power up top but made the engine more flexible in the low to mid range but still having those twin cam rev's. I found this gave a bigger resonse while testing out at the racetrack than what I got fiddling with the cams.
I wouldn't be moving your cams to aggressivly as you don't want to shove valve into piston. On the other hand it's good to hear there are still people looking for an edge to the old 2TG

yeah I realise the valve clearance issue, well guess I'd just have to give it a trail and error then. Anyway thanx for the replies, take care and keep the hybrid alive.
