ok efi relay is wied up correctly.

i have power to ecu from battery to battery wire. plus switchd power to +b and +b1.
basically everything on the ecu loom and those body loom plugs that i can find that need power an everything that needs earth is earthed.

i have fuel getting to the cylinders, i pulled the plugs and they all stink of fresh fuel.

    BUT NO SPARK!!!

    An ideas???

Might be silly but you have to make sure that the ignitor itself is grounded. Make sure it is bolted to a good earth.

im not so sure about that... ive had ignitors just plugged in sitting ontop of another ignitor as a test and they have worked perfectly fine...

if you are referring to the actual ignitor ground then yes that definately needs to be grounded correctly...

    IT RUNS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just got the car going. im the happiest guy in newcastle right now!

Thankyou so much Wilbo for your excellent help over the last few days!!!

It started and idled straight away, it isnt running on all cylinders for some reason though...
I let it run for a few minutes then switched it off. I then restarted it and it refuses to idle now, any throttle is fine but it is still only running on 4 or 5 cylinders and wont idle for some reason now.

    check coil pack clips

check that your map sensor has a vaccuum signal...

    check injector plugs

ok with the car running i checked each set of wires to each coil

4 of the coils gave readings of around 6volts

2 coils gave readings of only half a volt.

An idea what ive missed to be causing this?

dont check it with the car running...

check it with ignition on all coils should get 12v to one side and nothing to the other
all injectors should have 12v going to both sides (not 100% on this but about 90% this is how it goes as the ecu grounds them to fire them)

check the actual plugs to the coils if they are brittle or broken
check the coils themselves for cracks

all coils have 12v going to them with ign on
all injctors have 12v to them with ign on.

the plugs that plug onto the coils were all brittle so i broke them off completely and have the steel clips going directly into the coil clips so thats fine.

it seems to idle on all cylinders, its very smooth, as soon as you give it any throttle at all it starts missing and massively backfiring

ok my auto elec has been right over my wiring and the car. he cant find what could be causing the fault.

the car idles beautiful when is cold, when it warms up the idle goes high then low, then near stalls, sometimes it does.
if you VEERRYY slowly increase the revs, the car will not miss or backfire until high up in the revs, but if you rev it fast, it misses and farts straight away.

map sensor is plugged in, car stalls when i unplug it.

how do i check the operation of the tps???

fuel pressure should be fine, the engine was running beautifully in the halfcut a month ago....

ive run out of ideas, as had my auto elec.
    starting to stress me out!!!

just fitted a big new walbro fuel pump, so fuel pressure is definately fine...

going to check voltage on map sensor in the morning then start swapping out computers, ignitor pack, coils etc

i can very slowly rev the car to 4500rpm without it missing or backfiring, but as soon as it hits 4500rpm it just lets out the loudest backfires.
if i give the car a quick rev, to any rpm it will miss and backfire though
