tuners alot of the time are very biased to whatever ECUs they supply. I hate it when they just flat out say 'theyre crap" cause i bet you 99% of the time, they wont have a real reason or they will make up some BS. Adaptronic are very good ecus. As are EMS. Find places which tune the ecu you are interested in and ring them, ask them about their experience with your car and the ecu you want. See what they say.
i might give c-red a call actually, give them a chance to impress me..
I wasnt impressed when wtf auto said it would be around $4500 to get a haltech in, no doubt thats what it costs and that tristan is a pro, but im a mechanic too, just wanna hear 'yeh they work good if ur on that budjet' sorta deal.. Id love to get the haltech if i had the coin
i was gunna use all star garage as sean there tuned my last ems stinger on a 2jz and it was a dam good job.
In sayin that.. I do recall c-red's 'cpink' s14 with the twin turbo 1jz vvti.. Might give them a call
Not that I've seen a tune by c-red but that's one of the major shops who I might take a car to get tuned. I have a long list of places to not take a car to get tuned.
If you wanna be hella cheap about it, get a megasquirt MS3X like nuk1ear said. I have one running on my SR and it's less than 500 bucks for the kit with 8 cylinder sequential capability and all sorts of other useful stuff that you won't use. Idle control is so good even without any form of idle-up. The only problem is, I don't know of anyone that is happy to tune an MS unit. It's not very hard to work out so anyone that's clued up will be able to tune it, if they want to.
i think EMS it is, a mate of mine wires them up, actually makes it easier for me as i just tow my projects there with a driveline and no harness and he sorts it from there, leon from beyond custom is very clever at wiring EMS
before you get one, have a play with the tuning system. It's bloody awful...and I know it's not strictly a functional issue, but the interface is full of spelling errors!

I'm inclined to agree with Mullet, try the software first before you buy it. The EMS seems to work fine once setup but the interface you use to tune and change settings with could do with some work. I have heard that the EMS support people are very good to deal with though.
Personally I run a Haltech on my 1J (gt30 and external 44mm wastegate, custom exhaust manifold) with standard ISCV and it works like a standard computer but with heaps more power and I don't run o2 sensors at all. If you want it to use all the features and run nice the budget of $2000 won't be achievable unless you can source second hand stuff about the place and that's even fitting it all yourself. The PS2000 is over $2000 alone and that's without sensors. If you can get the cash together that would be where my vote would go.
Good luck with your choice
Aaron.
you guys are right.. Ps2000's are as good as they get i think.. Think itll definetly be in my car in the future
