no mention of conversion kits tho... except for
On average a 3SGE costs $2,500NZ more to fit than the 4AGE for NZ kit customers

So if the 3SGE not even GTE is going to cost you $2500.00 over and above the 4AGE, it adds up to a, not so easy conversion, add to that Turbo manifold, intercooler, piping ect and call it another $2000.00 on top, so $4500.00, plus the original price of the 4age, which would be at least $2500.00, works out to be a $7000.00 conversion not counting the mods you would have to do to the ST165 to make it fitOriginally Posted by oldcorollas
so you would have charged the guys around $12000.00 per car to do the conversion, plus extras. Very expencive conversion to make an ST165 RWD.

Now, back to the original topic, there is a certain RWD Mitsubishi VR4 here in Adelaide. NFI on how it works, but it used to be the Monkhouse family recce car, maybe you could do some inquiring as to that car, as it would be a fairly similar setup to the ST185 3S concept.

Why not just look at the MRT kits for the rexesOriginally Posted by takai

If in doubt power out
Because the WRXs are a north south transaxle, and the diff setup transfers predominantly to the rear wheels and then has a transfer case off that to the front wheels.
The VR4/GT4 both are E-W and naturally drive the front wheels with the transfer case coming off the front diff. You cant just remove the driveshafts as the diff will cook with no load on it.

What if you replaced the centre diff with a spool? I have no idea what the system looks like so I don't know if it's even possible, but it sounds a lot simpler than turning the engine around and fabricating a transmission tunnel.

That may be exactly what they have done in the Monkhouse VR4, i have been doing some asking around and teh non-literate people (Strongbad would use harsher words), are talking "hard diff centers" so quite probably spools.

There is talk that the Monkhouse boys will be revealing another weapon for the start of the drift australia round using the same principle as used in the VR4, I will have a chat with Tom this week and find out what their final system was, it might well translate straight accross to the GT4Originally Posted by takai

Ta ed. That threat of -ve rep becomes a very damning option. Just look at what happened to the "GZE bits" seller.
