4age into ta23 charge light on.

Hey guys, the charge light on the dash is on but the alternator is charging putting out 14v.

Was all fine till I extended the wiring as I mounted the alternator lower. The couldn't find the plug so I got another one but I may of mixed up the wires in the plug.

With battery connected but car off wiring going to alternator:
S ( sense)- has power
IG (ignition) - has power
L (light)- no power.

Can I possibly swap the wires around and try it or will it damage the altetnator.

Check the connection of the light cable where you extended it. How did you extend it?? Easiest way would have been to cut the wires, then run extension wires between, while maintaining colour matching.

I can say from experience that the light was permanently on with my EA falcoon alternator in the RA23 due to a mismatch in technology.

yeah i just cut and soldered in a extension.

i swaped the ig and l and it was still on.
checked the battery with motor charging and only 12v, so i think the alternator might be dead, there was a coolant leak above it recently, might of stuffed it.

Looking around for a bigger one nown then ill work out wiring.

I matched a 7mge one to my 4age one at a wreckers there exactly the same as far as I can tell.
Put new brushes in it thanks to a write up on toymods and going to test it tomorrow.

hey guys i swapped in a second hand 7mge alternator tonight (which i put new brushes in) and the charge light is still on.
I checked all the wiring and joins and there all good and in the right places.

Any ideas thx, this all started since i extended the wires the first time im fairly sure.
