Default 18rgeu install, need advice on fuel system

im putting the 18rgeu i will be aquiring shortly in the rt104 but im just curious as to what fuel pump is best to use im mainly looking for a single pump setup for now so an intank pump to start then ill add the surge tank and secondary fuel pump later.
as the corona doesnt have a fuel return line ill need to make one should i replace the standard supply line as well or can i still use it?
i was thinking 5/16 copper line the stuff that comes in coiled up bundles for the line/s thats the only stuff i can find at the local plumbing supply shop.
    what do you guys think?

So the Corona doesn't have a return line from the mechanical pump? weird. My old RA40 & RA23 had 3 lines up to the engine bay (fuel supply, fuel return, vapour feed to charcoal cannister). I would have expected a car of the RT104 era to at least have a return line from the mechanical fuel pump.

Stock fuel feed line should suffice tho make sure any rubber sections between the pump/tank and engine are replaced with EFI-rated hose. If you have to make a return line, copper or alloy of same or smaller ID as feel line will work but make sure you have flares on any ends.

eBay Walbro pump to suit MA61/RA65 et al tank would get you out of trouble. You'll have to do something funky with the existing feed line/hanger or get the whole pump hanger from an EFI tank and adapt it to use.

Just out of interest, would an EFI tank from RA65/MA61/ST14x etc fit your car? That tank shape seems to fit a wide range of models (am not sure if the rt104 tank is under the boot floor or behind the rear seats). If it did, just swap in an EFI tank and you'd have all the hardware/piping outlets to suit EFI+intank pump.

no they didnt run one which is odd but its good news i can utilise the the stock supply line.
ill run the efi spec hose trying to find the tool i need to put the flare in the pipes the engineering supply place might have what i need.
i havent pulled the pickup out of the tank im hoping i can find another efi one with a return on it that will fit in its place
went to the wreckers yesterday and found an st141 efi tank already out it mounts under the floor whereas mine mounts behind the seats but i pulled the sender unit out it would be perfect if the top plate was the same size as the 104 one just need to elongate the arm that holds the pump so it goes deeper into the tank.

just buy a cheap plumbing flaring tool from bunnings / tradetools /etc. Most sets from with enough dies and bits to let you double-flare a pipe ends.

if your going to the effort of making a new line..

i would make a new line ouf of bundy, or ally tube... 5/16 or 8mm ID use it for feed.. and the 1/4 or 6mm existing feed, for return... as almost every efi car has 8mm feed, 6mm return...

BUT 6mm feed would work just fine.. as long as you don't plan on turbo etc...

and the first pic of the flare would still work just fine... all it's doing it stopping the hose from slipping off the end... use proper efi hose clamps... the rubber will have to get bigger than the clamp to pop off the end of the hose..

i've done this on many cars when i can't be arsed changing the canister style, fuel filters, instead replaceing them with a much easier to replace Z200 (8mm in/out straight), with rubber lines on each end... and i have never had a problem..

true true seems arse about using a bigger line for the return and if im changing the pickup ill have to change the way the lines connect to the tank.
i like your thinking with the z200 much easier to change.
