    Might just run it open, and keep the covers handy for if I get defected or decide to put it back on...

    i havent run the front cover for years, and havent had a problem with the po-po even after they sus around under the bonnet. also havent had debris cause a break.

    to get it off a 7m you have to pull the thermostat housing off and drain/refill/burp the coolant. leaving it off makes doing lots of work on the car heaps easier (esp if you play with cam timing often)
    i do like the look, but its more about ease of working on it. my race motor wont run the back one (or lower one!) either cos it will look cleaner and i dont have the room but will still need some sort of TDC mark.
    There is no substitute for PUBIC inches

    Supercharged motor has exposed belts even with the engine cover on. The others posted are NA V6s

    I think you'e not imagining leaning over an engine naked whilst adjusting a dizzy at the back of a motor, my thumb isn't what I'd be worried about in the belts
