Default Anyone running a 4AGZE on MegaSquirt

    As above,

Are there any members running their 4AGZE on this EMS?

I've been looking into it as a lot of people in Ireland are running them on their 4EFTE's and are seing good results.

I'm running SC12 with 175mm crank pulley, NA cams and 3SGTE throttle body. I'm looking to turbo my 4AGZE in the near future and would like to know is this EMS up to the job?

The plan is to use the SC12 until I get bored and then upgrade the car to turbo. Meanwhile running the MS on the setups in the mean time.

What are the common problems with this software? One thing that seems to always come up is a crank angle sensor input?

This is the particular one I was looking at - http://elusive.net.nz/index.php?rout...product_id=166

Would it jsut be a case of wiring this particular ECU in and then mapping it? Are there any additional components needed?

    Any recommendations, good/ bad appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Ciarán

you'll need all the usual sensors to run megasquirt (TPS, Coolant temp, Air-temp, MAP - part of the ECU anyway) as well as the CAS. How you use the CAS is in part determined by your ignition setup (waste-spark only really needs one trigger wheel but growing numbers have used the factory CAS as-is and used one of the single-tooth wheels as the sync/home signal).

There's a few folks who have got 4AGZE's running:

plus you could probably use a turbo configuration and then decide how to control the S/C clutch & associated bypass valve.

There's plenty of folks that have got the 4AGE engine running. Some examples here as well: http://www.diyautotune.com/tech_arti...toyota_mr2.htm

The CAS issue - the VR sensors in particular - is an issue for some people whereas as others (self included) have not had issues with those kinds of crank angle sensors.

Would suggest you read up on the manual (then re-read as often as you can) and also delve into the thread here:

edit: that advert you put up is for a basic ECU only - you'd still have to buy sensors (or configure it to use the stock sensors), make a loom, then tune it. Much cheaper to buy a unit from diyautoune or similar.

tbh, that link seems very expensive for an MS1 with the extra code...
    check www.DIYautotune.com for other options..

Thanks for the great input as usual guys. Always some great info on here. Is there anyone that would be able to supply the entire package for me with a basemap?

I'm in Ireland and there isn't a lot of people running these ems. The guy that will be mapping the engine is fairly confident he will be able to get the engine up and running with the MS setup. I'd just like to have all of the associated research done beforehand to try and avoid any problems which may arise.

@ chuckster - I'm gonna check out DIY auto tune now.

    Thanks guys.
