I have the oil pump sorted as I have a new 5sfe oil pump with the provision for the sensor and I have a used late 3sfe oil pump with the position for the CAS. Also have a spare caldina crank timing pulley (with half stripped thread in one of the puller holes courtesy of yours truely) and a new 5sfe crank timing pulley with trigger teeth. The issue with using the 5sfe timing pulley is that it is offset (trigger at approximately 4 oclock) compared to the caldina one (trigger at 6oclock) so the caldina ecu would have the wrong crank position if the 5sfe stuff was used. Thinking about machining a relief into the oil pump housing to take the sensor in the caldina position. I'll need to weld in a new piece of aluminum to make it work as there is not enough meat in the current 3sfe/5sfe housing to make it work but that can be done relatively easily enough.

I looked at your build thread for the cam reset trigger and as I'm fitting the gen1 3sge cam covers for asthetic reasons I don't want to cut into the cover to fit a sensor. I'm already committed to this plan I guess as I have already machined the head in the spark plug area to take a sealing plate.

BTW I bought a new caldina timing pulley for $80.

The 5S-FE also has a different timing belt tooth profile than the 3S-GTE/GE.

$80 for a new pulley - would have got one for that price, Toyota wanted $200! Where can I track one down mate? You sounds dedicated to making it work, but dam it does sound like a lot of work...

I bought the pulley from Amayama. I bought it a few months ago and I've looked up how much I paid and it was $74.25 not including postage. I bought a few other items so I'm estimating that the postage cost for the pulley alone would be $10-15.

There is a little bit of work to do this project as not everything will be a buy it from ebay and bolt it on proposition. It's more of a idea that I wanted to see if I could do it as its always good to have a challenge and plus I would imagine that no one else would have the same setup so its unique.

When I get round to it I'll post up some pics of the differences between the 5sfe and 3sgte pulleys and pumps for reference.
