twin or triple plate
what flywheel and clutch is recomended to go behind a 4agte and a w58? i need some thing that will withstand a fair bit of abuse (26x10" slick and 300+rwkw)
pity i just bought one that would suit you perfectly![]()
212 would be the best start with a twin plate????
What bellhousing? Go the AE101 GZE flywheel if you can fit it in there, that way you can go to 225mm, twin plate will cost crap loads. You could get a 1.5 tonne NPC button clutch for around the $600 mark in brissy, if its just a drag car it'll probably outlast the motor.
Twinplate all the way. With a single plate you will never get fast gear changes like you can with a twin. You can only limit the clamp pressure on a single to 3500lbs, after that the flywheel starts to flex.
I make full twinplate kits to suit your application, have made a few for rwd guys with 4agtes now. Same as what I use on my car - have had the same clutch for over 2 years and 20,000kms on the clock. prob like 100 passes down the strip and many track days. + heaps of around town driving. Pedal feel is also very soft on my setups with a specially designed conical throw out bearing, softer than a button clutch setup with high clamp!.
Everything costs crap loads these days. But if you want to run that power and esp through 26" slicks reliably then you gota spend the money.

Yes its a special conical face bearing like no other.
The curved face goes right down to the diameter of where the shaft goes through. So the shaft is 40mm, the curved face goes down to 39.8mm.
All other bearings are usually around 44mm.
Once I put this bearing in the pedal became super soft, even my wife can drive the car with ease now and she hasnt driven a manual for over 13 years. Just gives you an idea of how easy it is.
Before this the pedal was pretty damn stiff like a race car.
Also the bearing in the picture is the older style I used to supply, you can see the conical face doesnt go right down to the shaft.
