the coil should not be grounded anywhere except through the igniter.
you havent put a wire from the negative side of the coil to ground have you? this will stop the spark all together.
swap in the ignitor, dizzy and coil off the old motor. are they the same? is the dizzy compatible with the ECU?
i think the very first thing you need to do is to go to "Them" and ask "Them" what "They" think.
if They gave a rooted motor, They should fix it up for you... did you ask Them if it was a straight swap, all electrics the same?
pull out your manual and check that the dizzy is the same...

altho if that's not the problem, power going into the coil is good but still no spark happening = rooted coil or rooted lead or rooted spark plug.
try this.. connect the coil to one lead and connect one spark to that lead. (put the plug on the valve cover or body) and crank. is there any spark at all?? that proves my suggestion.
at this point, the next step would be to check your ignition and ECU... and if that fails, my master would say "bring the petrol and give me a match i'll fix it right up"
Research has shown child in front seat causes accidents, accident in back seat causes child
how could i check the ignition and ecu.
also what fuses could blow to make this happen
take the car to a mechanic or a sparky.
do what everyone here has suggested and post up results of your trials so we can help you further...
otherwise u're asking for answers without the right question.
start from the begining again
dizzy - did you try using the old one?
coil - bench test it just to make sure or do that spark plug thing i suggested
leads - again u could try this on another car or bench test
timing - well if you have no spark this doesn't really matter but are your cams matched up with your crank and dizzy in the right position?
ignitor.. ---- so u've got a new ignitor.. that's good for a start..
fuse / relay - focus more on the ignition part. Power coming in? power going out?
then to a further extent your ignition barrel and everything it's connected to? this is done with a test light and multimeter
ECU can also be tested.. simple diagnostic test or even just testing the signals to see if it's doing what it's supposed to be doing?

Check this again while cranking the engine.Originally Posted by pinkky
With the test light on the negative terminal, crank the engine. The test light should flicker.
Post up the results.

If you have a lightening display, your ignition is fine bar dizzy. If you do not, you have a problem in either the coil itself not giving output, or the trigger wires from the coil to the dizzy are not working properly.
Sorry, forgot to mention you could check if your ignitino relay is clicking, your fusible links are ok.
A common mistake also is - did you reconnect the earth cable from the motor to chassis when you put the motor back in???
blake
yeah might have to do that big $$$$$$$$
did you check your earth strap??? from motor to chassis?
no i didnt connect any wire from the motor to the chassis,
to earth what wire..
so how does the starter motor send it's current back to the battery if there is no connection between the motor and the chassis... electrical conection that is?

Did you put any of the earths back?
If the motor is not fully earth its not gonna start.
Make sure all the earths that were on the original motor are somewhere on the new motor.
Also did you earth the battery?

connect a big assed strap to the body from the block and you will be fine![]()
well when i tryied to jump start it i connected the eartyh to the engine and the power cable to the positive terminal and it wound over. so it would of been earthed
