All of that will certainly make it unique...
Red carpets will be out there.. and I am not a fan of a bank of missile switches myself.. but each to their own!
What colour is the car going to be?
OK so i have an ra28 currently in pieces and want some suggestions for making it unique. i am handy with sheet metal, i am re upholstering everything and i can weld and am re-wiring pretty much everything.
so far i have decided to go for:
- full black felt interior trimmings.
- red bucket seats.
- red carpets.
- full sound system probably a custom jobby (me and a few mates do it for work).
- no fancy head unit just an aux plug in the glove box wired direct to amp under seat.
- stereo area replaced with missile switch panel to control everything.
- start button
- missile switch controls key stages, accessories, start, hazards, amp, etc.
- MGW (military grade wiring) all wires separate so easy to backtrack and replace.
- harness belts + standards hidden somehow to make legal
- lightened rear seats (wont be comfortable but i don't mind)
- Custom boot (nearly done)
- woodgrain replaced with carbon fiber dash surround
- have a boss kit atm for race wheel
- replace roof light with white neon side strips or one central?
- possibly replace gauges, clock will become boost with new motor.
- might get a racing fuel cell for boot to replace tank?

why just replace clock with boost? why not full kustom sik gauge setup?
military grade wiring is an interesting idea... so you will have redendancy in there? I wonder what that will add to the weight?
why not aircraft grade wiring?
what is the purpose of the car? auto salon or just usual show n shines?

you gonna connect it all up with milspec wiring connectors too?
this is all a matter of personal taste. do what you want. most of us wont like it anyway! lol
I reckon if you want to make it look unique put the better looking TA22 dash and long console in there and retrim that in felt. Will look ace! The rest sounds kind of woggy homo to me(imo), I think there is a fine line to tread between unique and looking like arse. If you have the expertise, retro fit the eintire interior out of the new celica in there. i love that whn the hot rod guys do that like putting in a VZ interior into an EH holden etc.

The main reason for this car is to make me happy i dont care about shows. i want to go for rally car look but neat with the carpet and the hidden stereo system and millitary wiring. (millitary grade wiring for those who dont know isnt quality of wires iths the way they are run through the car. no loom, each plug has its own wires running clumped only with that accesory, so in theory its all black and red just labeled every meter or so and you can just replace that wire if you want without pulling apart a loom.)

That looks like bigmats ra28.
LOL at mil spec wiring. Sounds like you are expecting to have to replace wiresGoing to keep a jar of electric smoke handy to replace aswell?
"might get a racing fuel cell for boot to replace tank."
Why? for starters probably not legal, and gay. The ra28 has a nice drop tank standard and is easily modified to include swirl pots, surge tanks etc. Just my opinion tho.
mil-spec wiring is not what you seem to think it is...
for example, multiconductor wires here
mil-spec means the wires themselves are up to the specification set by the military, which just means thats what they chose it to be. it might be lower than aviation spec
it also means the connectors need to be up to a certain specification, and are usually incredibly expensive.
also means the wires need to be crimped in a certain way, and need to be laid out in a certain way, supported at certain intervals, etc etc...
more multicore http://www.militarywire.org/multiconductor.htm
part of what you pay for is the product, part is the certification to the required specifications...

i see what you are saying but i was referring to the layout of the wiring not the wires themselves. i do electrical engineering in school atm its a layout form as well as the wires themselves. or thats what my teacher rekons. still replacing alot of the wiring (not the loom but any accessory) the fuel cell is more me getting annoyed at having the tank out for welding and not being able to run the car for fun laps so probz wont happen and i do love the drop tank.

The problem with the fuel cell in an RA28 is that i beleive you are not allowed to have the fuel tank in the same compartment as the driver. Which in the RA28's case, the "boot" is the same compartment as the driver/ vehicle occupants. But correct me if i am wrong.
yeah i havnt looked into it so you could be right, i know people with cells in 180sx they are similar in 'boot' style, but that was for Motorsport. i'm not really too fussed it was really just so i could take it for runs wile it was in pieces being welded up. i havent been able to drive it since new years

could always do what im doing im changing my headlights to black projectors so they are hidden and doing purple angle eyes (cars going to be purple) then black leather dash/seats and white stitching. Subtly is always the key, big vibrant colours i dont like and i always think carpets should always be black..
Somehow... Somewere... My car came with genuine toyota jdm red carpet... They are way too nice to waste. And i want to go half race spec. Like race but comfortable enough for driving around in and legalish.
