    Default W58 caseing compatibility (ie A70 W58 for a jza80)

    hey all

ive got a NA jza80 at work ATM thats got a buggered w58, im just chasing some info as the customer doesnt have the money to do a reco box swap and were seeing how we can save him some money,

what im really asking is if i were to purchase a ma70/ga70 W58, will i be able to split the cases and swap the rear so that the ma70 box has the remote shifter setup?

im still on the hunt for a jza80 remote shifter box but they seem to go fast so im hoping this might be a quick fix

    cheers fellas

In short it wont bolt up as the jza80 w58 has a larger bearing in the rear housing. I have a jza80 w58 and I needed to get rid of the remote shift so I tried to swap rear housings with a non remote shift (ma70/ga70??) w58 that I have but ended up keeping the jaz80 rear housing and swapping the shift lever top thing over as the bearing was too big.

Or you could pull the rear bearing off both boxes and also swap those too and it will work but if you are pulling off the bearing it makes sense to get a new one considering the bearing would be off already.

Stidnam is correct, rear housings are different but any w series can run the remote shifter, you only need to swap the shifter housing, brackets and shift rod and it will work. The other thing to note is the speedo drive in my experience is different between the jza80 and ma/ga70 so best to at least check and swap that over if required.

Yep, can agree with what the other guys have said.

You can swap the shifter positions tho
