It looks a lot like the VVTi 1UZ manifold - if similar/the same then it's not interchangeable with the non-VVTi 1UZs.
No idea on flow, but they're staged length runners, so gains to be had.

i've just been cruising the google train and noticed the trick lloking plenum for the tundra with a 2uz.
i was wondering if the 2uz heads are the same/similar as a 1uz and if the manifolds might be interchangeable?
has anybody looked into this manifold as to whether it would flow better than the 1uz one?
i'm guessing it probly don't considering the 2uz is 4.7 and makes less power than the 1uz.![]()
cheers, joe.

i've been researching it more, and found a few pages that list the specs. they say it has ETCS-i(electronic throttle control system), but doesn't say anything about vvt-i. this was a 2004 lx470 too.
from a couple of pics i can sorta see that the runners come relatively straight up from the heads then into the swirly plenum, and the throttle sits below. it's very similar to the later ford falcon design.

If it's a 2004 model it will almost certainly be VVTi.

Yes, late 2UZ's are VVTi (you can see the actuators in that pic), and the manifold should bolt to a VVTi 1UZ.
Not compatible with nonVVTi 1UZ's though.

Are you sure about that? Do the 1UZ and 2UZ blocks have the same deck height?Originally Posted by CrUZida

2UZ is only stroked by 1.5mm, so I doubt the block is different (bar the cast iron), but I'll have a search ye.

1UZ manifold fits on 2UZ, so I will presume the converse is true.

but is that 2uz one the same as a 1uz one or like the one in the pic? yeah i thought it would be vvt-i but none of the specs anywhere mention it.Originally Posted by CrUZida

on some other pics though i noticed that the cam gear covers are different and i think bigger.
also, are cams the same? as in physically and in there specs ie lift and duration?

Almost nothing from VVTi 1UZ, 2UZ and 3UZ is usable on early 1UZ.
aircon, ps, injectors, exhaust manifolds, sumps, thats about it really.
Heads, only with custom pistons, and vvti intake manifolds
Intake manifolds, no
Cams, no
Cam covers, no.

i meant non vvti to non vvti
i understand that the non vvti are different to vvti.

The nonVVTi 2UZ looks identical to the VVTi 2UZ as far as I can tell.

anyways, anybody actually inspected one? would it be a better design than the 1uz manifold? what size is the throttle body?

well lextreme had this exploded diagram of a 2uz manifold. it's a pdf file.

If the nonVVTi 2UZ is identical to the VVTi 2UZ I'd be inclined to conclude the nonVVTi 2UZ will not fit the nonVVTi 1UZ (which looks nothing like either), no?Originally Posted by joecoolmk2
It would be a better design than the nonVVTi 1UZ manifold. No idea on throttle body but high probability of electronic control.Originally Posted by joecoolmk2
